I take a seat next to him. “Nope. Christian doesn’t even remember him.”
“What do you tell him?” he asks. “He must wonder who is father is.”
“I’ve told him the truth. I’ve told him all there is to know, save for the sad parts.”
He hands me my rod. “What do you mean… sad parts?”
“Keith wasn’t a good man.” I throw another cast. “He was verbally abusive, and physically too sometimes when he drank too much.”
He shakes his head. “It’s a good thing he’s out west, because I’d probably beat the crap out of that guy.”
I smile, having a real hard time picturing it. “Would you really?”
“Well, yeah… I should probably clarify. I’d most likely hire someone to beat the crap out of him.”
We both laugh. “Yes, we wouldn’t want anything bad to happen to that perfect face,” I tease.
“How did it end with him?” he asks, reeling in.
“He took it too far one night and slapped Christian, who was only a baby at the time. That was it for me. I kicked him out the next morning.”
“That doesn’t surprise me at all,” he says. “You’re small but feisty.”
I smile. “Don’t you know it.”
“I got one!!” Christian yells.
Finally.I was starting to wonder if Colton was fibbing about this spot.
