“Well, we all know about your famous hoe parties—”

He cracks up, cutting me off. “Well, my friend. You were at my party last week, so that must make you a hoe.”

I laugh, not offended in the least. “Yes, I was. I was a total hoe for a night,” I whisper. “I don’t deny it.”

“Well… I beg to differ,” he argues. “I didn’t even get into your skirt.”

I raise a brow. “You wanted to get into my skirt?” I can’t believe I’m asking him this question, and I can’t wait for his answer.

Almost as if he knows, and I’m sure he does, he hesitates, teasing me. A ghost of a smile traces his beautiful lips. And then finally, after what seems like an eternity, he turns to me. “Yes, I did.”

“Why didn’t you try anything?” I really want to know.

“Because you’re you,” he says simply.

I’m confused. “What do you mean? I’m me?”

“You’re the kind of woman who doesn’t give it up easily, and for that reason I wouldn’t dream of taking it or even asking for it.”

I ponder his words. “How do you know what I’m like? I could be a total slut… maybe I wanted you to make a move.”

He smiles again, and damn if that smile doesn’t get to me. “Did you?”

I bite my lip, and choose not to answer, not giving him the satisfaction of knowing I’m into him. I’m sure he knows regardless.

“But to answer your question,” he goes on. “I knew because I know women.”

I smirk. “Of course you do, Mr. Casanova.”

I don’t know why, but his words get to me. “So anyway… you’ve seen my gorgeous view. Should we go back up to watch the movie?”

He looks stunned by my sudden suggestion. “The sunset will be here soon,” he points out. “I look forward to looking to the left and catching it.”

I stand and shake my head. “Oh… we’re so not having a romantic ‘let’s look at the sunset’ moment. I don’t do that kind of thing with players.”

His face falls. My words get to him. He clearly doesn’t like them. He stands, and follows me off of the dock.
