Angie’s skin tingled, and her heartbeat raced. “I’m not sure I understand the question.”

Crow hit the garage door opener and drove inside. “Buying time?” He swept his lips across hers.

“Not exactly,” she said, opening the kitchen door. She made a beeline for the cupboard, took out two tumblers, and poured whiskey in one and red wine in another. “I think we need these.” She handed him the whiskey and sat down on the couch.

He took a sip, then put the tumbler on the coffee table. “I’m asking you to marry me—to be my old lady.”

Tears filled her eyes, and she blinked rapidly to keep them from falling, but a few trickled down. Wiping them away with one hand, she smiled at him. “I would love to spend the rest of my life with you and be your old lady.”

“Fuckin’ awesome, woman. Hang on.” He stood up and walked out of the room. She heard his footsteps as he climbed the staircase.

He asked me to marry him! I can’t believe it. We’re going to spend the rest of our lives together.

“Here you go.” Crow handed her a black velvet ring box. “Open it.”

With shaky fingers, Angie took the box. She flipped open the top and gasped when she saw the glittering round center stone diamond and two rich, round sapphires, one on each side of the ring, all set in white gold. “It’s beautiful.”

“Like you.”

She choked on a sob as he pulled the ring out of the box and slipped it on her finger. Staring at her hand, she turned it from left to right, loving the way the light glinted on the stone.

“It’s gorgeous. The prettiest ring I’ve ever seen.”

Angie lunged and pinned him down on the couch, peppering kisses all over his face. “I love you so much.”

He grinned. “I am so fuckin’ in love with you, darlin’.”

“I can’t wait to start our forever,” she said before planting more kisses on his chin, jawline, and neck.

He chuckled softly. “We’ve already started our forever.”

“I guess this means you’ve accepted my family.”

“I did, even though they’re not Irish.” A mischievous smile spread across his face.

She busted out laughing, and he crushed her to him.

“Fuck, I love you, baby.”

“Me too, sweetie. I’d like to be engaged for a while before we get married. As you can imagine, the wedding is going to be a big affair.”

“Whatever you want, darlin’. I just want to spend my life with you and with our kids.”

“So you want children?”

“Fuck, yeah. Don’t you?”

“Definitely, but we have some time.”

“We’ve got the rest of our lives, darlin’.”

Dipping his head down, Crow crushed his mouth against hers. Her lips clung to his, and she wrapped her arms around his neck and arched her back toward him. He slipped his hand under her back, then pulled her tight against him and deepened the kiss.

“You’re my heart and my life,” she whispered.

“And you’re my fuckin’ forever.”

A smile danced across her lips. “I like the sound of that.”
