CHAPTER22

One week later.

Angie wokeup to Crow gently tracing his thumb across her cheek, sweeping several strands of hair from her face. She stirred and nuzzled against his warm skin, loving the feeling. Since the night they’d made love by the lake, Crow had been in her bed practically every morning. She’d had no intention of letting him into her life or heart so quickly, but he just slipped in, and it felt right.

“Did I wake you?”

She tilted her head up and met his gaze. “Not really.”

“Morning.” He cupped a hand under her chin and pressed their lips together for a deep, sensual kiss.

“Nice way to wake up,” she whispered.

“Fuck yeah.”

Sunlight trickled in through the small gap in the shutters, and Angie squinted at the clock on her nightstand: seven o’clock. It felt wonderful not having to jump in the shower and get ready for work. She’d taken the day off for her mental health, fed up with Joey’s surliness and Damon’s perpetual scowl. One of them in the office was bad enough, but now that Joey had a major attitude toward her ever since she and Crow started dating, it was more than she could handle at times. Damon’s display of petulance and nasty temper was a given, but now her supposed friend and ally, Joey, had turned on her. Angie was done with both of them.

“What’re you gonna do today?” Crow’s deep voice brought her back to the moment.

“Nothing much. I’m having lunch with Silvia. What time do you have to leave for work?”

“Eleven.” He buried his face in her hair. “You always smell so fuckin’ good.”

“Thanks.” Smiling, she grabbed his hand and tucked it under her chin. “Can I ask you something?”

“As long as it isn’t about club business, go ahead.”

“What’s your real name? I don’t think your parents named you Crow.” She snickered.

“Cody—Cody Byrne, but I haven’t been called that for a long time.”

“Cody … I like it, although Crow fits you to a T. Are you Irish on both sides?”

“Yeah. My maternal grandparents came from Doolin, County Clare. My dad’s side of the family is from Dublin, but they’ve been here since the 1870s.”

“That’s cool. Have you ever thought about going to Ireland?”

“Maybe someday. I think it’d be cool to tour the countryside on a bike.”

“I bet that would be gorgeous. I’m dying to go to Italy to see where my grandparents lived. My mom’s family is from Potenza, and my dad’s is from Genoa. I have a lot of cousins over there, so it’d be cool to connect.”

“Yeah, I guess I have a lot of relatives, too, in Ireland. I’m not big with the family reunion stuff, so I doubt I’d look up anyone if I ever made the trip.” He kissed the top of her head. “Besides, there’s a lot of kickass scenic routes I’d like us to explore in our own country. I usually go to Sturgis in August. I want you to come with me.”

“In South Dakota, right?”

“Yeah.”

“That’s a hike. It’s like eight hundred miles. I think my butt would be pretty numb riding that distance on the back of a motorcycle.”

Crow laughed. “We’ll break up the trip. Take some backroads too. It’s fuckin’ awesome.”

“Sounds like a great time as long as we do it over a couple of days. I’ve heard about Sturgis and always thought it’d be fun to see, so I’m down with heading out there.”

“That’s my woman.” He tilted her head back and kissed her long and lazy.

Warmth and love spread through her.I’m over the damn moon about him. Is he in love with me? I bet he’s too cool to say, “I love you.”The last thing Angie wanted was to fall in love with any man, but how could she not fall for Crow? She felt safe and cherished in his arms and knew he’d do anything to defend her to his death, well, as long as it didn’t go against his club. Crow was an extremely passionate lover who ignited her body back to life. How could she not fall for this amazing, exciting, and kind man? He was everything she’d fantasized except for the outlaw club, the gun hidden in one of his boots, and the club girls constantly hitting on him.But I wouldn’t trade him for anyone else in the world.

“Are you sleeping?” Crow nudged her lightly.
