“Blame the sugar high.” She laughed then leaned toward him. He pulled her close and kissed her, the berry sweetness in his mouth mingling with her own sugary taste.
“Is that the only reason?” he said against her lips.
“And the ultimate high of loving you.” She pulled away a bit. “I’m starving.”
Cobra laughed and scooted back until he leaned up against the headboard. “You wanna go out?”
“No way. I want to order room service then cuddle next to you while we watch an action film. Remember—it’s your choice since you watched two romantic comedies in a row.”
“That sounds like a great plan. The menu’s on the desk.”
Dakota sprinted from the bed and snatched the menu then sat next to him while they perused the selections.
“Whatcha going to have?” she asked, her stomach growling again.
Cobra chuckled. “A burger, medium rare, and fries should do it.”
“That’s all?”
“Yeah, but order what you want.”
“Okay. Let’s see … nachos.” She glanced at him. “We can share.”
“That’s it?”
“Not on your life. Chili cheese fries, a BLT with extra bacon, a dinner salad with blue cheese dressing, and a brownie.” Dakota closed the menu. “That should do it.”
Cobra had the biggest grin on his face as he reached for the telephone. “Where the fuck are you gonna put all of that?” Happiness danced in his green eyes.
“In my stomach,” she joked and lightly punched his arm. “Anyway, we can share then keep the leftovers in the mini fridge in case we get hungry later.”
Grabbing one of her arms, he yanked her to him and kissed her hard. “You’re such a kook, but that’s another reason I love you.”
Warmth spread through her and she snuggled next to him as he cleared his throat then gave their order over the phone.
