“Getting tired of barbecue and burgers?” Kylie laughed. “No problem. I’ll Facebook you and we can decide where we want to go.” She jumped when Jerry came up behind her.

“Ready to go, baby?” he asked and she nodded.

Cara loved watching Jerry and Kylie together; the young couple had fought hard for their love and relationship. “Are you guys going over to Banger’s for Christmas?”

“Yes. Dad wanted us to spend the night, but we want to open one gift tonight.”

“I can’t wait for you to open mine,” Jerry replied, and the women chortled. “Let’s get going.”

“How’re you doing, babe?” Hawk asked as he curled his arms around her waist and nuzzled her neck. “You’re so soft.”

“I’m pretty beat. Did you put Isa to bed?”

“I did that an hour ago. She was sleeping while I changed her. She was so damn tired.” He laughed then kissed her neck. “I can’t wait to put you to bed.”

She placed her hands on his. “Do you want me to be naughty or nice?”

“Fuckin’ filthy,” he whispered as his teeth grazed her ear.

Shivers tingled through her. His presence, his scent, his touch made her feel like she was going to melt. Everything about him ignited deep feelings of love and lust inside her.

“It was a lovely party. We had a good time as always. Thank you,” Baylee said as Axe helped her with her coat.

“Dude,” Axe said to Hawk, bumping fists with him.

“I’m so glad you and Tigger could make it,” Cara said to Sofia, hugging her warmly. “We’re planning a birthday lunch for Belle in two weeks. You have to come.”

Sofia glanced at Tigger who narrowed his eyes. “She’ll let you know. She’s got a lot of things to do in the house.”

“She’s an old lady and needs to be at my woman’s birthday lunch,” Banger said. He looked at Cara. “Sofia will be there.”

Tigger nodded. “Yeah. Of course. I thought you meant tomorrow.”

What an idiot. Kudos Banger.“I’ll put you down. I can pick you up or Cherri can if you don’t want to drive.”The asshole doesn’t let her drive anywhere without him. Drop his ass, Sofia!

Sofia looked at Tigger. “Thanks, but my husband will take me.”

When Tigger nodded his approval at her, Cara wanted to kick him in the balls in the worst way.

“We had fun. Merry Christmas,” Sofia said. Tigger walked out and Sofia followed, but for a split second, she paused, looked over her shoulder, and threw a warm smile at Wheelie. “Merry Christmas,” she mouthed, and then she took Tigger’s hand and walked down the porch steps.

Cara watched Wheelie from her peripheral vision as he stared out the front door, watching Sofia as she slid into the car and drove away into the snowy darkness. He looked like he’d just lost his best friend, and her heart went out to him.

“Do you want to come with us tomorrow to my aunt Teresa’s house?” she asked.

Surprise flashed across his face. “Thanks, but I’m going to the club and hang out with the brothers. The club women will make dinner. Have you seen Rags? We drove over together. He’s crashing at my place tonight.”

Cara clapped her hands. “I’m so glad you won’t be alone tonight.” Wheelie gave her a funny look and ambled toward the kitchen.

“What the hell was that all about?” Hawk asked, closing the front door.

“What do you mean?” Cara tried to brush past him, but he grabbed her arm.

“Cara, stop thinking what I know is in your mind. Leave Wheelie alone. Leave Sofia alone. And definitely leave Tigger alone. Don’t get involved with any of it.”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about. I just asked one of your single friends if he wanted to share Christmas with us. I wouldn’t call that getting involved. I’d call it being nice and thoughtful.”

“Don’t act so innocent. Remember how you were obsessed with hooking Banger up?”
