God… It was a temptation I could barely resist. I yearned to run my hand down the curve of his body, to gently squeeze the plumpness of his ass. To wake him up with lazy, languid kisses.

Instead, I pulled the blankets back and got out of bed, careful not to wake him.

Then I took a cold shower.

I was trying to be patient, but every time I breathed him in, I was reminded of that blistering week of heat we’d spent together between the sheets. Sky’s body slick and hot and needing, tight around my cock as I fucked him so hard the bed shook. His whimpers and cries had been music to my ears.

“Fuck,” I uttered, my voice echoing softly against the tile of the shower.Think abut something else, idiot. Dead puppies. Anything but that.I squeezed my eyes shut and tried to focus on something else—like property taxes, or inventory coming up at Bixby’s.

I managed to get myself under control, but when I went out to the kitchen for my morning coffee, Fletcher noticed something was up.

“Everything okay, babe?” He tilted his head, his red curls framing his face, drawing my attention to the stubble he’d yet to shave off this morning.

He hated the scruff, but I always thought it was charming. I tried to get him to grow out a beard, but he’d made it four days before shaving it all off because “it was itchy.”

“Yeah, everything’s fine.” I poured some French vanilla creamer into my coffee and gave it a stir. The spoon clinked around against the china.

“Are you sure?” He came to stand beside me, raising a brow. I didn’t miss the impish smile tilting his lips in a sideways slant. “Because I think I know what’s on your mind.”

I huffed at him. “Nonsense. You’re imagining things.”

“Adam, you’ve been distracted lately,” Fletcher said gently. “At home. At work. Don’t think I haven’t noticed. I’m your mate—it’s what I’m good at.”

I grimaced. Had it really been that bad? Surely not. I wasn’t that much of a fucking horndog…right? Had Sky noticed? Shit. I rubbed my temple.

Fletcher leaned up and kissed me, then took my face in both of his hands. He gazed into my eyes. “Adam. Sky’s an adult. He’s been through a lot in his life, but he’s not broken.”

“I know that,” I murmured. “I don’t want to push him into anything he might not be comfortable with, that’s all.”

“Then why not test the waters? Tease him a little. Kiss him. See if you can turn him on, see how his body reacts.” He smiled. “If he didn’t want to be with us, he wouldn’t have agreed, you know, and he wouldn’t sleep so soundly between us at night.”

I groaned under my breath. “That’s the problem. I almost couldn’t keep my hands to myself this morning. It’s getting harder and harder not to touch him.”

“Then bridge the gap. Show him what you want,” Fletcher insisted. “See if he wants it too.”

I nodded slowly. “I’ll think about it.” I knew Fletcher had already made advances towards Sky, and Sky had been more than willing and utterly receptive—so what was I worried about?

Later that afternoon, I passed by the kitchen to find Sky washing the dishes from last night’s dinner and this morning’s breakfast. Standing at the counter, lost in thought, he didn’t see me, but I sure as hell saw him.

I stared at him, taking him in. Admiring his ass in those tight jeans, and the way they hugged his thighs. Loving the way the muscles in his arms flexed as he scrubbed a particularly stubborn spot on a skillet. The way his hair fell over one eye in a swoop of blond locks.

He was beautiful.

Ours, whispered my wolf from deep within, something I’d never heard before. It both surprised me and calmed my rioting heartbeat at the same time.

Unable to wait any longer, I stalked towards him, my fingers itching to touch him.

Sky’s head popped up when he heard me approach. “Adam?”

Without a word, I came up behind Sky and placed both hands on his hips, caressing the warm skin beneath his t-shirt with my thumbs.

“Adam?” His voice was softer this time, but it ended in a hitch as my mouth ghosted over his neck.

“Mmm?” I nuzzled there, nibbling lightly on his skin. The Omega shivered beneath me, going completely still.

I remembered a moment similar to this many years ago with Fletcher, back when I was so uncertain of my feelings. I’d walked away then, because of familial duties.

This was different. This was curiosity laced with heat. It was instinct, the need to taste and touch the Omega who shared my bed every night, yet remained so far apart from us.
