“I know. And I’ve got a pretty nice butt.”

“You’ve got an adorable butt.”

“I really hope he has a nice dick.”

Katie laughed.

“What? I do. I mean, I’m sure I’ll be interacting with it at some point. You know, realistically. And I might as well enjoysomethingin this whole situation. The luxury resort is nice and I’m sure the material perks of being a billionaire’s wife will be great, but I’m not exactly gonna be celibate for the next four months, for any amount of money.”

“Celibate?”

“Well, think about it. You played fake girlfriend once. All that touching and holding hands in public, and pretending to like someone? Dane is hot, right? And I’m only human. I have a very, shall we say…active… sex drive. And as I’ve told you many times, I don’t do vibrators. I prefer the real deal.”

“Uh-huh…” Katie said. “So, you’re saying…?”

“I’m saying it’s hard to resist hot and willing man flesh, Katie. And you know this.”

“Right…”

“So… if he’s willing… either I’m fucking my new husband, at some point, business deal or not, or I’m fucking someone else. And Dane slipped a little section into our contract that says if I’m caught cheating on him, the marriage is done and I get nothing.”

Katie gasped a little. “Really?”

“Really. My brother went over it with me. It’s pretty iron clad.”

“Huh,” she mused. She almost sounded impressed. “I guess he knows what he wants.”

“He wants to make sure I don’t sully his delicate super-stud reputation,” I said dryly.

“Oh, Devi. I’m sure he wants more than that,” she said. “And for your sake… I hope he has much more than a nice dick.”

Chapter Twenty

Dane

It was late afternoon when I stood on the beach with Devi and some stranger who was about to marry us. With our tiny wedding party.

Most everyone wore nice but casual beach clothes, even Rolf. I didn’t even make Shane and Lex put on shirts. It was too hot, especially for a bunch of people who’d just flown in from rainy Vancouver.

It was the rainy season here, too, but lucky for us it didn’t rain.

Corben wore a full suit and looked like he might pass out. At least he went barefoot in the sand. We stood in the shade of some trees to get out of the heat. The sand was so hot out in the sun, it was hard for our delicate Canadian feet to walk on anyway.

I held Devi’s hands as we stood facing each other. I wore a short-sleeved white shirt and linen pants. She wore a gorgeous crocheted dress that looked pretty show-stopping on her. With an orange flower in her hair. Same as Katie.

It was like they were marrying each other or something. Katie even held her hand until I took over.

I had no idea what Katie was thinking. But I was going to assume that Devi had been very free with her feelings about her groom during girl talk last night.

That was one of Devi’s stipulations; she got to tell her best friend the truth.

I didn’t stipulate the same. I didn’t feel any need to tell Shane the truth on this.

But I didn’t doubt that Devi had told Katie everything already. For whatever reason, though, Katie had been very nice to me. She didn’t exactly strike up conversations with me. But she was very… sweet.

I was actually worried for a moment, as she carefully handed Devi over to me, that this wasn’t going to work. That it wasn’t going to be believable, or worse, that Devi was going to start revealing an actual fear of me.

Game over.
