His arm wrapped around my shoulder. He began to move until the mattress springs were throwing me back at him—cocooned beneath him, completely his, while he worked that knot into me.

I could feel his desperation. It matched mine.

The bond thrummed between us.

My breath caught at the back of my throat as he plunged deep.

My entire body shook as I clamped down on him. By the time I could breathe again he was flooding my insides with his seed—so vivid through the bond that I could almost smell it.

Conrí Gallagher was ours.

Every last bit of him.

??????

He left to get food—but not before tucking me into his bed with the focused care of a man who considered this non-negotiable.

While I was mentally debating whether pink or pale blue would do something about the grey, Bad Girl’s words drifted back.

What did you mean—he’ll protect all of us?

I can protect us. But we need him when we’re vulnerable. When we have pups.

Pups.

Children.

Tiny humans. Like us.

I scratched my head.

Between everything—the office, the wolf transformation, the heat, the pack, the move—I had somehow managed to forget what a heat and rut actually were for.

Before the panic could take hold another thought landed quietly in its place.

This would be my family.

The door burst open from Conrí’s kick. He was already telling me about the food on the tray—where the meat was sourced, how it was prepared, the benefits of the almost raw slab in the centre—with the earnest authority of a man who had strong opinions about protein for humans and wolves.

You could’ve done worse, Bad Girl murmured. You could’ve ended up with the abomination.

She was right. He would protect us all and he’d use his last breath doing it. The thought of losing him settled in my chest like something heavy and real.

“What’s wrong? Don’t you like it?” Conrí asked.

I blinked the tear away before it could fall properly.

“It’s perfect,” I said, looking down at the tray on my lap.

Everything was.

Well except Bad Girl’s issue with Cuán.

I almost felt sorry for him.
