“Dom—” I’m chasing my release, sure that any minute I will spontaneously combust and I need him to give me what I need.

Instead, Dominique gives me a cruel smile, one that says he has me right where he wants me and under normal circumstances, I’d be okay with that because hell, I’m exactly where I want me to be, too. But there’s an edge to his expression. A warning I’d be stupid to ignore.

“If you want to keep doing this—” He curls his fingers deep inside me, finding that spot. The one that —

…Oh…

I twist my hips. So close. Just a little bit more …

He eases back, relieving some of the pressure. My shoulders slump and I release a harsh breath, a thin sheen of sweat now covering my body. “Fuck.”

I wasrightthere.

“You talk to someone about the shit you're dealing with.” Like being dunked in a pool of ice cold water, everything in me seizes. What the hell?

Fuck that!

“No.” Using my hands to shove myself up, I scoot back and scramble to get away from him. But Dominique has that look in his eyes, the one that says he is playing to win and there is no way he is going to let me get away.

Fingers slipping out of me, he wraps his hands around my calves just as I’m about to turn and dive over the edge of the bed, only instead of getting away, Dom drags me back to him, my shirt twisting beneath me as I writhe and kick, but it’s no use. His grip remains tight until I’m back beneath him.

“I am not talking to some shrink,” I snarl, shoving against his chest.

Dominique leans forward and braces his body over mine. I shove at him again. Not that it does even a lick of good. Dom is more than a head taller than me and at least sixty pounds of muscle heavier. He won’t move unless he wants to be moved. But knowing that doesn’t keep me from trying. I strike and push at his chest and I’m pretty sure I get a kick in there too. Screw the submission game. If a fight is what he’s after, I’ll give him one.

“I didn’t say anything about a shrink,” he snaps.

“Oh, so what—“ I sneer, “I should talk to you, huh? Pour my heart out and let you pick up all the pieces.”

His jaw flexes and I know that comment struck a chord. It’s a reminder that we’re not friends. Outside of the bedroom, we’re not even friendly.

“I didn’t say that, either.” He grinds his teeth together. “Stop putting words in my mouth and listen for once in your fucking life.”

“Screw you.”

“I’m working on it if you’d shut the hell up and see reason.”

I snap my lips together, giving him a look of pure mutiny.

There is no way I will ever willingly open up to Dominique Price. He has enough ammunition on me as it is, and I for one, am not a masochist. Showing him my most vulnerable parts is like asking to have your heart shoved through a meat grinder. No, thank you.

“So it’s settled, then.”

Wait. What? No, shit is not settled. I am not—

He flips me onto my stomach and pulls my hips back, leaving my ass up in the air as my shirt falls, bunching beneath my breasts.

I shove up on my hands and knees, but Dominique isn’t having it. His palm presses into the center of my back, stopping me from getting very far before my face smooshes into the mattress beneath me.

“Dominique—“ I growl, struggling against his hold.

He ignores me, that dominant side he likes to keep tucked away creeping out as he slides his hand over the curve of my ass and gives my backside a quick and hard slap.

I yelp, jerking forward only to be pulled back again, his hand kneading my still stinging flesh. Liquid heat pools between my thighs and it does not go unnoticed.

“You like that?” he asks right as his hand slaps me again, this time on the opposite cheek.

I curse him and squirm to get free.
