“What does that mean?”
“We have to take care of the rot within our own... CSP.” He sits beside me. “Joey, and the rest of his followers, must be stopped. And we have a few more pieces of the puzzle to find.” He taps the chips. “The third chip and the other members who can activate them.”
“Seems like you activated them just fine.”
Evo hangs his head. “I’m just the messenger, a conduit. It knows that now. And it will take me again when it needs something.”
“So it’s like AI?”
He looks away. “It is both biological and AI.”
“I don’t understand.”
“It is Titan.”
“But you’re only biological in theory, transference…”
“It was…familiar. Like a Creator. Like you. Like a Brother or Sister. It reminded me of Poppy. Ancient in origin, demanding, no room for error.” Evo looks away. “It is…lonely. Machines do not get that way. But it is also committed to its purpose.”
Evo takes my hand. “I thought my emptiness was too much. But it has been alone for centuries. I want to stop its pain. H…Hispain. I know only a fraction of such isolation, and it nearly destroyed me.”
“I will help however I can.”
Evo’s eyes flash with communication. “Chasm has a plan. We are moving out of the system now. Craze has temporary control of Aidathrin.”
“What’s the plan?”
Evo blinks, and his eyes return to normal. “Capture CSP. Find and free the rest of our CyberGuards. Reconnect with resistance on Earth Minor. Weed out Solcrue loyalists. Plan a rebellion. Salvage all the ships we can. Find the other ancient descendants and the last chip. And find a new supply of food for our growing fleet.”
“Is that all?” I laugh.
Evo leans forward and kisses me tenderly. “No.”
“What’s left?”
“Making love to you in the shower one last time before we take a really long nap. Then we hunt down Crezlith and the rest of his kind.” Evo picks me up and carries me into the shower stall, a sheepish grin decorating his face.
“It’s all you, sexy.” I nip at his muscled neck. “My legs are already like jelly.”
“I will support you.” He switches on the hot water, locks my ankles together behind his hips, finds my opening, and inserts himself. “I just can’t get enough.”
“I don’t feel complete without you,” I admit.
Evo rests his forehead against mine. “Promise me that you will be careful in battle. I can’t lose you, or Iwillfall apart. And you saw what that looks like.”
“It’s not really in Rebel blood to hide,” I reply. “We aren’tbredthat way.”
He laughs. “Using my own words against me.”
“Just carry my love in your ultromotor, and I’ll carry yours in mine. And we’ll find a way to survive.”
Evo wraps me up in his muscled arms, his cock still buried in me. And it is the most whole I have ever felt. He doesn’t have to say anything. His body tells me enough. He will protect me, love me, and cherish our bond until we are both returned to the stars again.
