He snorted out a soft laugh. "I guess the McDermot genes are unshakable."
"I guess so." She shifted to make room for him when he came back to the sofa.
"You did good, kid," he murmured and wrapped an arm around her shoulders.
Tipping her head on his shoulder, she sighed softly. "I want more."
"More what?"
"Children. I want more."
He chuckled. "Have you alerted your husband yet?"
"He knows. But he's avoiding the topic. He was a wreck at the hospital. He tried to hide it, but I could tell."
"Can you blame him?"
"No, but I think he's coming around to my way of thinking."

"We're thinking a zoo theme for his birthday party," Althea mused as she rubbed the cream into her skin.
"Is that right?" Making sure the monitor was on, he crossed to her and took the cream. Dipping his fingers in, he massaged it into her skin slowly. Both children were fast asleep, which gave him the opportunity to be with her. With both of his children having birthdays in June, it was going to be a hell of a lot of work to plan birthday parties for them.
"Hmm." She stretched languidly as he rubbed the cream onto her stomach. She had given birth three weeks ago and already looked as if she never did. Apart from the slight swelling of her belly, she was back to her normal shape and already talking about another baby.
"He's going to be seven and he's moving away from his dinosaur phase."
"Now he's talking about giraffes and lions." He cocked a brow at her. "Don't even think of putting those on the list."
She grinned at him. "I did and then I scratched them off." She waited until he had capped the bottle and put it away. "Uhm. You haven't said anything about them."
"Them who?"
"Your sister and my brother."
He winced as he climbed in next to her. "I would rather talk about the party. Or lions or bears, anything but that." He wrapped his arm around her.
"They look happy."
"The weather. June is turning out to be very predictable."
"Stop." She laughed. "Seriously. He's in love with her and she told me she's in love with him."
"Jacklyn has been married twice. Your brother has a reputation of being a womanizer. I don't want to see her hurt."
"She's a big girl and people can change. You changed."
Tipping his head down, he met her gaze. "I always loved you; that's the difference."
"And we found each other again. We allowed things and circumstances to get in our way before." She slid her hand over his bare chest, loving the feel of the crisp hairs on his flesh. They had started intimate relations just last week and she was relieved to see that it was as good as before, if not better. She had read extensively on postpartum depression and was happy that was not an issue. Her desire for her husband was still as strong as ever.
Sighing, he lifted her hand to his lips. "I want to be happy for them."
"They want to get married."
"You're spoiling the moment for me."
