The distance that was easy.

It was the kind of thing a practical person did when they were a prisoner and wanted to conserve their dignity. Pure survival instinct. Nothing more.

I stared at the back of his head and tried to figure out what was going on in his mind. I wasn’t even sure he could feel emotions like a human. Sure, he had human components, but he was designed as the ultimate soldier, and in that maybe there wasn’t room for such things. Could he hope for anything? Or love? Or even hate?

The last twenty-four hours had been a whirlwind for me and maybe I’d been looking at everything as if I was underwater.

I wasn’t his lover or anything like a wife. At the end of the day, I was his prisoner and that’s all I ever would be.

With an almost silent sigh, I followed him close enough so that he didn’t have to jerk the leash again. My life wasn’t my own anymore and I would have to accept that, at least until an opportunity at escape finally presented itself. It likely wouldn’t be today, but there would be some time in the future that he let his guard down and I’d be able to get away.

I’d look forward to that day.

At that point, I started focusing on my surroundings. In the past, I’d been better than most at remembering paths through the forest or the layout of the streets in the old, abandoned parts of where I’d grown up. Often, I would draw maps in the dirt for my comrades to follow. I’d sketched them on old pieces of crumbling paper using mud as paint. I’d always been one of the more resourceful people at my camp and I prided myself on it.

I set my sights on memorizing the path from his suite to the elevator, to the command room and down below. When we finally reached an underground hub of airships, I grinned a little knowing that I’d made the right choice to pay attention.

They were all the same type that Talyn had flown earlier.

I’d paid attention to the sequence of commands that he’d used to activate it before. He approached one of the larger ships and the shuffle of many feet behind me made me look back. There were at least a thousand of them.

My group was barely one hundred people, no more than that.

“Talyn. You don’t have to do this,” I blurted.

He froze for a brief second before yanking the chain hard enough to make me fall forward. He perched his foot on the side of the ship and tossed me over his thigh. Neither my hands nor my feet could reach the floor and when I tried to reach back to steady myself, he pinned them behind my back. He flipped up my dress and I stilled.

His palm crashed down on my backside ruthlessly hard. I didn’t count how many times he spanked me. All I knew was that it hurt and that his soldiers were close enough to see every detail of my embarrassing ordeal, including the fact that my arousal was probably glistening on my thighs. I didn’t protest, only let out pained cries with each hard smack. When he was done, he deposited me back down on my feet, but tucked my dress in at my waist so that my bare bottom was still on display.

He said nothing as he took the leash once again and led me on board the ship. My backside felt especially exposed, and I could think of nothing but the sight I made. My ass was sore, but the thing that stung the most was my pride.

He walked onto the ship and his fellow soldiers followed. I made no move to cover myself, knowing that it would probably enrage Talyn further if I did. I stared at the floor, knowing that the men were probably looking right at my red bottom. I was only mildly thankful when Talyn sat me down in one of the seats because hedidn’t let me cover myself then either. When I went to fold my hands in a way to hide my pussy, he knocked them aside and slid his fingers between my thighs. He found my clit and I squeaked in fearful arousal as he began to tease it.

I lifted my gaze to meet his. I wanted to hit him. I wanted to come for him. I wanted to hate him for all the things he’d done to me.

I could do none of those things.

His gaze was dark, but there was something about it that pulled me in. As much as I felt like I should fight him tooth and nail, I knew that he could always subdue me at the end of the day. He was stronger. Faster. Bigger and superior in every way.

I turned my head away, unwilling to face reality.

The rest of his men entered the small space and took their seats as Talyn teased me and my cheeks flushed harder than ever. There was no winning against him, especially like this.

It was almost as if he was a different person when he was in front of his men versus when he was with just me in his quarters.

I pressed my lips together firmly when he finally pulled his hand away from its place between my thighs. I wasn’t sure if I was thankful or furious that he hadn’t made me come.

I sighed quietly as he set about starting the ship. I watched the sequence he typed into the command board, noting it was nearly identical to the one I’d witnessed yesterday.

I smiled slightly at my small victory. I ran it through my head several more times, ensuring I had it thoroughly memorized before I turned around and watched several more ships lift offbehind us. In front of us, a wide metal door lifted, and we surged forward, followed by a brigade of nearly one thousand ships.

There was no way to warn my people what was coming and as we flew toward the northern border of the alien territory, I closed my eyes. I hoped that today might be a day where my people might be scattered, that some of them may be hunting for supplies, others for game and others poised in hidden encampments throughout the forest.

I didn’t know what the plan would be since my failure yesterday. Perhaps they would regroup or pull back.

It felt like just minutes until the ships were descending toward the ground. The time it took for their ships to land was brief, and we all debarked the ships together. Talyn insisted on me accompanying him at his side. He was rough enough with me that my dress untangled and slipped down, covering my backside. I didn’t say a word and he thankfully didn’t move to correct it.

He marched me through the trees with his army at his back. We walked far enough where I could feel the exertion in my legs before he lifted his arm and signaled to his men.
