I answered the phone and pressed it to my ear. “Sorry, I can’t talk right now. I’ll explain everything?—”
“Alexis doesn’t have much time, so you should probably fit me into your schedule. Now.”
Ice swept through every muscle as Bass’s voice flowed over the line. “What the fuck did you do to her?”
“Oh, don’t worry, little bro. I haven’t done much of anything. Yet.” His laughter made the hair on my nape rise. “But I will ruin every part of her if you don’t do exactly as I say. And trust me, Killian, that when I say ‘ruin’, what I really mean is fucking ‘destroy’.”
CHAPTER 48
YOU’RE THE ONE I WANT
Lexi
A jackhammer pounded at my temples, the rat-a-tat-tat vibrating across my entire skull and dragging me from the sweet release of oblivion. Son of a bitch, that hurts. I forced my heavy lids open, and nothing but murky black surrounded me.
Shit. The car accident. Cordi!
“Cordelia?” I croaked.
Blinking quickly, I tried to push past the haze threatening to pull me under once more. Where the hell was I? Darkness pervaded every corner, the black so thick I could barely make out the tip of my nose.
I tried to sit up, but a sharp pang lanced across my side, stilling my movements. Gritting out a curse, I attempted to rise more slowly this time, but metal bit into my wrists and ankles, forcing me in place.
No. No. No. That all-too familiar panic reared up, and my lungs began to seize.
“Cordi!” I cried out.
The squeal of rusted hinges sent my head whirling to the right. “Hello? Who’s there?”
“It’s about time you woke up, Alexis.” That voice sent ice surging through my veins, paralyzing my frantic heartbeats. “My bad, maybe I shouldn’t have rammed Cordelia’s car at such a high speed. I never meant for you to be out this long. I hope you don’t have a concussion.”
I struggled against the restraints, but the unyielding metal only sliced deeper into my skin. “What did you do to her, Sebastian?”
The heavy footfalls loomed closer, and every nerve in my body sprang to high alert. With my sight compromised, all my other senses grew painfully acute.
“Don’t worry about Cordelia, she’ll be just fine; you’re the one I want.”
Strong fingers wrapped around my neck, and I let out a sharp gasp.
Shit, this was not happening.
Sebastian’s thumb dug into my throat, impeding the airway. “You’re the one that has made my life a living hell since you showed up atmyuniversity. Why the fuck did you come here? You ruined everything the moment you stepped foot on campus.” His hot breath wafted over my face and icy tendrils crawled up my spine. “Killian changed as soon as he saw you. My brother was gone the second he set his sights on your tight little cunt. And now, I’m wondering how good of a fuck are you? Because Kill hasn’t been right in the head since the night you showed up at our doorstep.”
“Fuck you!” I hissed.
“Oh, I will be fucking you. I promise you that. But first...” His fingers tightened around my throat, and pure black invaded the corners of my vision. “First, I’m going to have some fun with you while we wait for Killian to get here.”
“K-Killian?” I choked out.
“Yes, you know, the newly minted knight in shining armor. He couldn’t get off the phone fast enough when I told him I had you. You really have that asshole by the balls. He should be here within the next half hour with the video. It was a no brainer, really, you for that damning piece of evidence against my father.”
“No...” If we lost that, we’d have nothing to prove what Stanford did to me all those years ago.
As much as I hated the idea of that video going public, Stan going unpunished was a hundred times worse.
“I’m surprised my father was stupid enough to keep all those videos over the years. He’s gotten cocky, shielded by the power of the—well, you know, I’m sure.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” I hissed.
