“It looks dark and quiet wherever you are,” she mentioned. “Paisley didn’t toss your ass out?”
“Nah, not yet.”
“Damn. So, it’s coming?”
“Probably so.”
“You must not be paying bills over there. Cause if she can put you out, then that means that the house aint yours.”
“Nah, you got it wrong, this time. I definitely pay the cost to be the boss, but when a muthafucka tells me to go, then I leave. I aint finna argue with no woman about no shit like that. I gets too much money, so having somewhere to rest my head will never be a issue. Besides, holding onto a house aint worth my peace.”
“I hear you.”
“Uh-huh.” I yawned.
“So…what’s on your mind?”
“Nothing. I just needed to see her.” And if we already had the results, then I would’ve already been over there in person by now.
“Oh.” She smiled. “Where’s…Paisley?”
“At her mama and daddy’s house, partying.”
“And you didn’t go too?”
“I was supposed to take a nap, then pull up, but I overslept.”
“Oh, damn.”
“I know, right? But it’s all good. I’ll catch up with her people on the rebound.” I thought about it. “I’ma come over there in the morning.”
She arched a brow. “I mean…you can…but I thought that you were waiting for the results?”
“I never told you that. I wanted the test to have that shit in black and white. In the meantime, I don’t need that to start getting familiar with her.”
“Okay. I can accept that.”
“Yeah. So, you’on be having niggas over there, do you?”
She sighed. “Other than my ex from time to time, then no.”
“Your ex, huh?”
“Yeah.”
“Why you aint with that nigga?”
She bucked her eyes. “Exhibit A is laying here, snuggling against my titty.”
“He wasn’t willing to accept her?”
“He was wishy washy about it, and that was a deal breaker for me.”
“Then why is he still coming around?” I frowned.
“He really doesn’t. We’re fully broken up. No in between or back and forth. He has no clothes here, or keys to get in. The most he’s done is stop by to bring me food or something, but that has pretty much stopped, because he’s finally seeing somebody.”
“Well…Ion want that nigga around, at all,” I admitted.
