Footsteps sounded as someone approached, but Donovan didn’t stop kissing Tate to see who it was. A moment later, the footsteps receded.

“They need a minute,” CJ announced, followed by a round of laughter.

Donovan smiled against Tate’s mouth. “You’re not embarrassed, are you?”

Tate had a firm grip on Donovan’s shirt. “Surprisingly, no.”

“Good.” He kissed him again, reining himself in a little. “Because I’m not.”

Tate smiled up at him. “This has been the best Christmas.”

“I won’t disagree.”

They stared at one another for a moment, and Donovan swiped his thumb along Tate’s cheek.

“I won’t pretend I don’t wanna take you home, though.”

Tate’s smile widened. “And I won’t pretend I don’t want to go home. You still sure you want me there?”

“I’ve never been more sure about anything in my life.”

As he stared at this man, Donovan felt so much, it was nearly overwhelming. He honestly never expected to feel this way again. More shocking than that was the fact that Tate had been right there all along. As much as he wanted to speed up this process, he knew Tate was right to slow things down. But Donovan had no doubts at all. Not a single one. He knew exactly what he wanted, and he was going to do whatever it took to make it happen.

More specifically, he would do whatever it took to make Tate happy because having the man in his life was the best gift he could’ve ever been given. He damn sure wasn’t going to let the opportunity for a happily ever after pass him by.

“All right, you two! Quit makin’ out! It’s time to open presents,” Reilly shouted.

Color infused Tate’s cheeks.

“Let’s get the gifts outta the way so I can take you home and unwrap you,” Donovan whispered before kissing Tate one more time.

“What if I want to do the unwrapping part?”

Donovan stepped back and stared down at this man who had suddenly become the best part of his existence. “Baby, I’ll let you have anything you want. Just say the word.”
