Kieran chuckled. “What do you think?”

I honestly didn’t know. Based on what I’d learned about Kieran’s design contributions, I got the feeling he was the one who’d handled the decor. But as for the initial concept, I would bet money Knox had come up with it.

“I’d say it’s the perfect blend of both of you.”

“You’d be right.” Kieran continued to steer me through the wide hallway that bisected many of the individual showrooms. “What I want to know is what changes you’d like to see.”

“Why do you think I’d want any?”

“Because this is your legacy, it’s only right that you put your stamp on the final product.”

I appreciated that he said that. I did have a few ideas that I wanted to run past the two of them. However, my thoughts weren’t exactly on Delta June’s now that he had joined me, despite my best efforts.

“Before we get into that, I need to ask you something.”

“Anything, love. I’m an open book.”

“Why didn’t you tell me about you and Knox?” I asked.

Kieran’s steps faltered as he came to a sudden stop.

I turned to face him. “I’m not upset,” I clarified. “I’m just curious.”

“If you’re worried—”

I moved closer to him, pressed my hand to his chest as I stared up into his handsome face. “I’m not worried, either.”

He didn’t speak, just held my gaze. I could see the concern in his eyes, knew he was wondering where I was going with this.

I took a deep breath. “I’m not worried,” I repeated. “I’m just curious how I fit into it all.”

His eyes softened. “Don’t you know? You’re the second piece of the puzzle, Em. You always have been.”

“Second?” I frowned, confused. “How many pieces are there?”

“Three.”

“So that makes you…?”

“Hopefully, the third.”

And there it was. With those few simple words, Kieran had relayed his own vulnerabilities while settling the few doubts I’d had since I witnessed their kiss this morning. Although I hadn’t necessarily been surprised when I’d seen them lip-locked in the kitchen, I had been startled by it. Of course, I’d also been turned on beyond reason, but that was beside the point.

But it wasn’t their physical contact that had jolted me. It was the intimacy I’d witnessed. What they shared … their body language spoke of something much deeper—certainly more than a mere physical relationship.

“Why hopefully?” I asked.

“That’s more of a question for Knox.”

“I’m asking you.”

His eyes remained locked on mine. “Knox has always been honest with me about his feelings for you.”

I couldn’t hide my surprise this time. “He has …feelingsfor me?”

I mean, it was one thing for Knox to desire me, something he’d admitted to. But more than that?

Kieran’s mouth pulled up into a wicked smile. “They go much deeper than his lust for you, love.”
