He stayed close as we left the kitchen, his hand on my lower back the entire walk back to his room. The moment the door clicked shut behind us, the tension that had been simmering between us all evening ignited, fueled in part by my desperation to at least have this time with him if I couldn’t have forever. After all the fear, I deserved a little taste of happiness.

Soren turned me in his arms and kissed me hard, backing me up until my legs hit the bed. There was nothing careful about how his mouth claimed mine with raw hunger, his tongue stroking deep as his hands roamed over my body. My fingers gripped his shirt as I pulled him closer.

He didn’t waste time. Within seconds, he had me laid out on the bed, his big body covering mine. His hand slid under my waistband, his fingers finding me already wet and aching.

“So fucking ready for me,” he growled against my throat. “This pretty little pussy is dripping, angel.”

I gasped as two thick fingers pushed inside me, curling just right while his thumb circled my clit. He kissed me through every moan, swallowing my cries as he worked me higher and higher. When his mouth replaced his hand, licking and sucking with devastating focus, I shattered hard, trembling beneath him.

Even as I came down, still shaking, he refused to go further. He kissed his way back up my body and pulled me tight against his chest, his breathing ragged.

“Not tonight.” His voice was rough with restraint. “Not until you’re completely mine in every way.”

I didn’t try to push for more this time, not when I had so many doubts about what the future would hold for us.

He wrapped his arms around me, tucking my head under his chin. “Rest, Delaney. I’ve got you.”

I lay against his chest, listening to the steady beat of his heart. My body still hummed with pleasure, but my mind was a storm of conflicting emotions. I was falling hard for Soren’s quiet strength and protectiveness. He made me feel so safe and desired.

But when he talked about babies, terror gripped me. I didn’t know how to tell him I could never give him the family he clearly wanted. Not after what I’d survived.

I pressed closer to him, torn between how deep my feelings already were for him and how impossible our future seemed.

I’d been fighting the urge to see Delaney all damn day. Ever since I had woken up this morning, she had hovered constantly at the edge of my thoughts. The more we uncovered about Magnus, the stronger the urge became. I wanted her close enough to have her in sight with my hands on her. Keeping her safe was paramount, but it had become more than just protection. It was deeper and more personal than that—something I couldn’t fucking deny anymore.

By early afternoon, the tension inside me was unbearable. I pushed away from my desk, leaving behind the stacks of intel and briefing notes I'd been poring over. I’d reached the limit of how long I could go without seeing her. I needed to remind myself she was here, safe, and mine.

I moved through the clubhouse, tension rolling off my shoulders with every step I took toward the lounge, where I knew she’d be.

Delaney sat on the couch near Savannah and Edge’s old lady, Callie, while Jana—Nitro’s wife—relaxed in the overstuffed chair next to them. Their laughter was soft as the kids played around them on the floor, building towers of wooden blocks and racingtoy cars across the rug. The sight of Delaney smiling made me stop and watch her silently for a moment.

Seeing her with the old ladies and kids had settled something in me over the past few days, a powerful sense of certainty and quiet anticipation about our future.

Delaney looked up, as if sensing my presence. Her gaze met mine, her eyes wide and luminous. Something intense flared in their depths, mirroring exactly what I felt. I saw the same desperate need, restless tension, and hunger. My pulse surged at the realization, and every carefully maintained boundary I’d held on to shattered completely.

The tight leash I’d been keeping on myself snapped at that moment. As I crossed toward her, Callie noticed first, her expression brightening knowingly as she glanced between us. She didn’t say anything, though a faint, amused smile curved her lips as she nudged Savannah lightly and nodded in my direction.

Delaney rose slowly from the couch, her cheeks flushed softly, and her eyes darkening as she took in my approach. She must’ve seen some of what I was feeling in my expression because her breathing quickened slightly, and she took a half step toward me without seeming to realize it. Her reaction sent a rush of heat through my veins, tightening my body with a need so powerful it damn near buckled my knees.

I reached her in three quick steps, sliding one arm around her waist and pulling her firmly against me. She gasped, her palms coming up to rest against my chest. Her touch seared straight into me, sending a hot jolt of arousal that tightened my gut.

“Soren.” Her eyes were wide and questioning.

“I’m done waiting, angel,” I rasped, my voice pitched for only her ears. “I need you. Right now.”

Her lips parted softly in surprise, the flush deepening on her cheeks. She didn’t resist as I scooped her up effortlessly, one arm beneath her knees, and the other securely around her back.

“Soren!” Her voice was a startled whisper, mixed with laughter and anticipation.

My mouth quirked slightly even though my body was pulled painfully taut with need. I turned toward the stairs, ignoring the amused chuckles of the brothers gathered near the bar, watching the scene unfold with open entertainment.

“Don’t break her, brother!” Edge called out dryly as I moved past. “She seems to actually like you. No idea why.”

Nitro snorted softly. “Careful, Rev. You’re looking dangerously domesticated right now.”
