Ajani’s maniacal laughter surprises me and catches me off guard. My head whips in her direction. How much had she heard?
“You’re a real dumb fucking cunt,” Ajani spits out, eyes staring daggers at him.
“What’d you just say, bitch?” Joey storms over to her chair and grabs her hair, yanking her head back, but instead, pulls off the wig she’d been wearing as part of her disguise. His face falls when he realizes who the woman is beneath the wig.
My friend's smile is scary, wide and conniving. “You’ve really fucked up now,Collector.” Ajani’s tone is bold.
Joey looks from her face to the wig in his hand, dropping it to the cement floor and taking multiple steps backwards. “Who have you brought to me, Sarah?!” Joey yells in her face.
“I… I brought another pretty woman for you to sell, sir. I was able to gettwofor you this time.” Sarah averts her gaze and starts to back away from him, until her back is against the wall.
Joey punches her in the gut. Sarah grunts in pain and doubles over. He grabs her hair and drags her across the floor to where Ajani is sitting, putting them face to face. “You brought me DiPatri’s goddaughter! The DiPatri family!God damn it, woman! She’s anuntouchable!”
Joey shoves her to the ground and kicks her in the stomach. “You dumb fucking bitch. Get up!”
Sarah cries, holding her abdomen, and curls into the fetal position. “I’m sorry!I didn’t know.”
Joey lifts Sarah up by her elbow, phone in his hand as they both walk out of the room, slamming the door behind them.
“Get rid of the friend, quickly. No one can know!” He’s talking to someone on the other side of the door.
“Ajani, I’m so sorry. I fucked up.” I try to hold back my tears. “We’re gonna die.”
CHAPTER 66
KC
“No, we’re not.” Ajani is moving her hands quickly behind her back, sawing back and forth until the zip tie breaks. Her index finger shoots up to her mouth. “Shh, we only have a few minutes before they figure out how to get rid of me and come back.”
I look down at her hand, noticing her bracelet is open, and a sharp blade is affixed to the middle. “Holy shit.”
“Everything’s going to be okay, KC. I need you to focus on your breathing, okay?”
I nod at her. Praying to myself that we make it out of this situation alive. Brittney was right; I should’ve been more careful with my posts on TEASE.
“Right about now, that dumb fuck is realizing how big of a mistake he’s made. He didn’t just takeoneuntouchable, he tooktwo.” She looks at me with a smile. How can she be smiling right now?“And I don’t know how long we’ve been here, but I’m sure Beau and my father’s men are searching for us.”
“Untouchables? I don’t know what that means.”
“When we get out of here, I’ll explain.” Ajani walks over to where I’m sitting and cuts the plastic from between my wrists.“Keep your hands together and hold on to the zip tie. We need them to think that we’re still tied up.”
I place my hands behind the back of the chair, where they were before. “Where do you think we are?”
“I’d say an abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of town. They wouldn't have been able to go untraced if they had holed up somewhere in the city. My father’s men would have found them already.”
“That makes sense. We had to have been drugged. I don’t know what happened. I don’t even remember leaving Darla’s.”
Ajani looks at me, her tone serious. “Stop blaming yourself. We’re in this now, and wearegoing to get out of it,together.”
“How are you so fucking calm right now? I feel like I’m about to go into cardiac arrest!”
Her face is plain, and she lifts a shoulder casually. “I’ve always known this could happen. This is inevitable for me.” She points to my chair. “In my life, because of who my father is, it was always a possibility, and this isn’t the first time I’ve been taken. Father has been training me since I was a kid.”
Loud voices start to echo from behind the closed door before it opens. Two men walk in, one big and one smaller, no masks to hide their face.I know what that means. They don’t plan on letting us out of here alive. You can tell from their masculine builds that they work out. The smaller guy is rolling in a tall, rusted barrel. The big one is carrying a hand saw in one hand and a plastic tarp in the other. Once they get inside, the big guy shuts the door. The smaller guy opens the barrel and pulls out a jug of fluid.
“Fuck, you’re pretty.” The big guy walks over to Ajani, stroking her chin. “Carter’s daughter… Shall I make you cry while I fuck you raw?”
Ajani laughs. “I’m not scared of you, dipshit. Are you sure you can get it up without all the screaming and tears?”
