Before a response can be made, her stomach growls loudly.

A peach blush coats her cheeks. It might be my new favorite shade. Kailey smiles bashfully, shrugging her shoulders before responding. “If my stomach didn’t already give it away, I’m starving. But first I need a bathroom and some toothpaste.”

I can tell she’s embarrassed that I laid a kiss on her, morning breath and all. I didn’t care today. I won’t care about it tomorrow, either.

I nod my head toward my brother. “And this asshole, who woke you up, is my brother, Joey.”

Joey’s blonde hair is in its usual man bun, his lean muscular arms on full display in his white tank and dark blue board shorts. That tall six-foot-three frame ensures his good chances ofkeeping this physique. His stare dances between Kailey and me before he holds out his hand to grab hers in a soft handshake.

“Soooo, you’re the beautiful girl my brother has been talking about all week.”

This fucker woke up on the wrong side of the bed, wanting a fight. I reach for something, anything, in the truck bed to chuck at him. I end up throwing an empty soda can at his head; of course, he dodges it. Joey chuckles while staring at it lying on the ground.

Kailey stands, then casually hops down from my truck’s tailgate. “Well… I sure as shit hope I’m theonlybeautiful girl that he’s been talking about.” She raises her eyebrows at me, silently questioning me as I follow her movement to the ground. Is that a hint of jealousy? Ownership? Yep, I think it is… I like that look on her.

“Now that this isn’t awkward at all, can we all please go inside? I’m hungry, and you won’t like me when I’m hangry,” I whisper into the crease of her neck while wrapping my arms around her from behind. Goosebumps form on her arms. As her body melts into mine, her ass grinds onto my nowveryhard dick.

This woman is going to be the death of me. Not wanting to take my hands off of her, I keep a firm grip on each of her hips as I walk us up the stairs and into the house. After showing her where the bathroom is, Joey and I head to the kitchen.

Mom taught Joey and me from a young age how to cook. Telling us breakfast was an important way to a woman’s heart. Let’s hope she was right about this feisty Greek goddess that’s currently freshening up in my bathroom.

Joey slides up beside me, shoulder bumping mine. “I like her; she’s got kind of a ‘you either like me or you don’t’ attitude going on.”

“Yep, she’s great.” I pour the ingredients for pancakes into a bowl, mixing it all together. I want to end this conversation before Kailey comes into the kitchen. Hoping my heart-eyes don’t give away too much to my brother.

“Did you guys fuck?”

Putting my hand up to silence him, I listen to make sure I still hear movement down the hall in the bathroom.

“Did you wake up and decide to be stupid today? No, I did not fuck her, and no, I’m not talking about her to you anymore.” Taking a step away from Joey, I give him a stern look. “Yes, I like her—a lot. That’s all you need to know.”

Joey places his empty coffee mug into the sink, leaning his hip into it before facing me. He pauses before a hand rubs at his jaw line, taking in the expression on my face. I turn toward the stove, pouring small amounts of batter in the pan.

He holds his hands up in surrender. “Wow, okay. I was just asking; it’s not like you’re a virgin. Bro, calm down. She’s hot, and I know you’ve wanted her all week. I just assumed you got it in. Don’t act all holy on me now.”

Light footsteps make their way down the hallway.

I point the spatula at him. “Okay, enough. Don’t you have somewhere to be? Preferably anywhere but in this kitchen?”

A sweet as sin grin forms on his face. “Nope. Actually I think I’ll hang out here for a bit.”

Kailey walks into the kitchen, fresh-faced with her hair tamed down. When she smiles at me, it makes me forget all about my idiot brother. The pancakes start to sizzle, so I distract myself by flipping them over, placing a few chocolate chips into the batter. By the way my body reacts to her presence, you’d think I was a newb around the ladies.

She twirls her body around, taking in the view of the kitchen. “I feel so much better after brushing my teeth. I’m beyondthankful you had a brand new toothbrush stored in a spare drawer. I can throw it away before I leave.”

Our eyes connect. I’m caught off guard by her statement of needing to throw away the toothbrush. It’s hers now. “What? Why? Just leave it. You never know when you might need it again, Dimples.”

Clasping her hands together, a deep red blush fills her cheeks as she walks over to pour herself some coffee and use the creamer I set out. My front teeth sink into my bottom lip as I think about how I want to see that blush spread all over her body.

She shrugs slightly. “If you say so…”

Joey makes conversation with her easily. Such a smooth talker, my brother—gotta love it. Once Kailey mentioned her sister, Beth, his demeanor perked up. Excitedly asking all about her sister as I finished cooking our breakfast.

I place a plate with a small stack of pancakes in front of her, and Kailey digs in right away. I do love a woman who’s not afraid to eat… Once she takes the first bite, she lets out a soft moan, causing syrup to slip out of the right side of her mouth. Before I can talk myself out of it, I swipe the small drop with my thumb, watching as her eyes zone in on the digit. I stick it into my mouth, sucking the syrup off, and releasing it with a loud pop. I don’t miss the way her nipples harden underneath the thin swimsuit cover-up. I really should offer her one of my shirts and some basketball shorts… After breakfast, I’ll do that.

“These are ah-mazing. Honestly, I can’t believe you can actually cook.” Kailey doesn’t try to hide the surprise that’s written all over her face. She continues to shove another forkful of pancake into her mouth.

Joey chimes in nonchalantly, cool as a cucumber, “Our mom made sure we could cook. You know… to make the women in our lives happy. It has definitely come in handy a time or two.” Hegives her a shit-eating grin, and I’m sure it’s to try and insinuate we’re big players with the ladies.
