“What? Yeah. Yeah, I’m good. Whew, that was just a lot.” Her body sinks back against the chair.

“Someonewill be celebrating tonight.” I raise my eyes dramatically at her. With that, she finishes off her drink and waves down the waitress, telling her we need another round.

I look over at Mattie, noticing there isn’t any alcohol in front of him. I point at my bottle of beer, then toward him. He shakes his head and taps my thigh. “Not tonight.”

The ring girls are huddled together in the middle of the cage, performing a coordinated dance. Once they finish, the announcer talks about the next fighter. The arena’s lights dim down again as “Paid My Dues” by NF plays.Interesting choice…My eyes try to find the new fighter who’s supposed to be walking out of the tunnel and toward the cage. Finally, I catch him on the right side—he’s walking, and appears to be in no rush.

Once he arrives at the cage, he swings open the gate and saunters in. He’s tall, and walks with a purpose, like he isn’t excited about this match. His chest is on display, well-defined and showcasing multiple tattoos. Only the front half of him can be seen because he’s wearing a white hooded robe and dark red silk shorts. He keeps his head down while he does some shadowboxing. The opponent makes his appearance in the cageby doing a front flip, then shows off his muscles and walks over to talk down to the first guy. No one can hear what’s being said; we can only see their body language and their mouths moving.

Alrighty, this fight might be interesting. I don’t realize that my upper body is leaning forward until Mattie’s laugh captures my attention. I acknowledge it, rolling my eyes and sitting back into my seat, then mouth,What? to him. An air horn pierces through the air, and the fighters go to their assigned corners. The guy wearing the robe takes it off as the timer starts ticking down.

I tip my bottle back all the way to finish it off, and finally get a look at the first fighter’s back. In contrast to his front, his back is plain and simple, with only one tattoo across his upper back, from shoulder to shoulder. Seeing those letters, I’m caught completely off guard. The beer, mid-swallow, goes down the wrong pipe, causing me to cough uncontrollably. Brittney starts to pat in between my shoulder blades while asking if I’m alright. I can’t even speak right now. Did she know he’d be here?

Brittney’s gaze follows my finger, and when she finally sees where it’s pointing, her eyes go wide. “Oh. Fuck…”

CHAPTER 29

Jared

A WEEK BEFORE THE FIGHT

Aring girl is on her knees in front of me while I fuck her face. After the fight I just won, I needed more of a release—always more. This was the fight that sealed the deal on me moving to Chicago for the next six months. To me being part of a cage fighting team, one that will train together and compete together. The sounds of her gagging encourage me to go faster; it’s not like I care if she gets off. This is about me. I grab a chunk of her hair and push her head deeper onto my cock. “Swallow all of it.” Right after my command, I blow my seed deep down her throat. She frees my softening dick from her mouth with a pop. She looks up at me with teary eyes as her tongue swipes around her lips to make sure she didn’t miss a drop. This woman is beautiful—they always are—just… never enough for me.

Loud banging on my dressing room door gets my attention. I extend a hand and help the redhead off of her knees, kiss her cheek, and thank her for some good head, then send her on her way out the back door.

I make sure my shorts are pulled all the way up and are on appropriately. “The door’s open.”

My manager strides in. “You killed it, man! The Chicago team owner wants you to sign on the dotted line tonight!”

“When would I have to leave? There are some things I need to handle at home before heading out on the road for the next six months.”

My manager reviews the paperwork in his hand before replying right away. He stares at my blank expression. “It looks like your first fight is in a week. So we just need to get you there that night.”

“Jared, are you ready for this? This is what you’ve been working for.”

I slam an open locker closed. “Yes, I fucking want it. This is the next chapter for me.”

“Alright, let’s bring the notary in and get this shit signed. Lisa!”

A petite, blonde woman wearing thin, brown-rimmed glasses walks in. She’s carrying a leather notebook, a stamp, and a pen.

Her small, fragile hand extends out for me to shake. “Mr. Sinner, it’s a pleasure to meet you. I will notarize your paperwork and get it sent back to Chicago for you tonight.” I hold her hand in mine, giving it a soft shake.

“Alright then. Show me where to sign.”

After my manager and Lisa leave, the room is empty. It’s quiet, peaceful, and I absolutely hate it. My mind is always on-the-go. I grab my cell phone out of my duffel bag so I can send some text messages. I click open the first chat box and start typing away.

Me

Hey, I'll be heading out of town next weekend. Do you think you’ll be able to handle their mowing while I’m out of town? I know she said his stress test went fine, but I’d rather him not be out and on a mower in this heat wave.

G

For sure. No prob, man. Are you gonna tell me this time where you’re going, and for how long?

Me

Ahh, snookums, are you going to miss me?! Stop it, you’re really making me blush over here.
