“Please daddy always acting like somebody is hurting Zach.” Mason groaned, rolling her eyes.

Marlo worked all our nerves acting like Zachari would break in half if we looked at him too long.

“Daddy what?” Marlo said as he stood in the archway of the living room.

Call me biased but my baby daddy was fine as they came. His hair was in two French braids, that rest on each of his shoulders. His face was a little scruffy since he hadn’t been to the barber this week. His work shirt was unbuttoned, his wife beater clung to his chest showing off all his muscles. The fitted Black Dickie work pants slightly hung off his waist. Marlo looked good as hell even though he’d just got off of work.

I only worked part time since Zacharia was born. It was easier for us if I was home the majority of the time. A lot of thework I did from home. This was temporary though, I couldn’t see myself sitting in the house everyday with kids. Once Zachari turned one, I was going back to work full time. I loved working with Marlo, but I didn’t think I wanted to return to the office. In my down time I was thinking about going back to school.

“Nothing daddy,” Mason giggled.

“Unhuh, I know how you two be talking bad about me when I’m not around.” He snickered then he walked over to me, giving me quick peck on the lips before he took Zacharia from my arms. “Why you ain’t change his diaper yet? You know his skin sensitive.” Marlo frowned as soon as he smelled Zacharia.

“Boy, hush. I was on my way to change him when you came in here.”

“Nah, y’all be tryna be funny with my little nigga.”

“Please,” I waved Marlo off walking around him to the kitchen.

I wasn’t about to play with Marlo and his baby. As I rummaged through the fridge for something to eat, Marlo came into the kitchen.

“We still going to your mama’s wedding?” He asked with a sleeping Zacharia in his arms.

“Now you know she gone talk hell smack if we don’t,” I said, giving him a knowing look.

My mama loved Marlo since she first met him. To the point she called him more than she called me. Her and …… were finally tying the knot. I was happy for my mama finally settling down. Our relationship had been doing better. My mama was still my mama, but she’d chilled on breathing down my neck.

“Man,” he chuckled nodding his head in agreement. “Where Mallory?”

“She fell asleep. So, I carried her to her room.”

“What I tell you about carrying her?”

“I’m grown.” I replied smartly.

Marlo really thought he was my daddy too. He acted like it was a crime for me to lift anything over a pound. Marlo ended up destroying the DNA test for Mallory. He really didn’t want to know what they said. Mallory was his daughter and that was all that mattered.

“Are you?” He asked me with his brow raised suggestively.

“Gon’ somewhere, I’m not fooling with you.” I giggled trying to move back from Marlo.

“I’m sayin’ ya nigga can’t get no love?”

“What you mean? I don’t got no nigga. You just my baby daddy,” I said teasing him.

“Awh, yeah that’s it?” He grinned at me sneakily. “Riddle me this if I’m just ya baby daddy what’s this?” He asked as he grabbed my left head pointing to the big oval shaped engagement ring on my finger.

Yeah, I talked my shit, but Marlo showed up and showed out when it came to loving me. He made me fall deeper in love with him every day. I didn’t have to ask; he just did whatever I needed. He listened, communicated with me, was honest, respected me and most of all he was loyal. I felt whole when I was with Marlo and there wasn’t a doubt in my mind he was made for me and I was made for him. For a minute it was touch and go with us, but Marlo made sure he proved himself. Last week he surprised me with what I thought was a date night at my favorite restaurant. He rented it out for me and everything. Midway through our dinner he got on one knee and proposed to me. I cried so hard that night. I couldn’t believe after everything I’d been through; I was finally getting my happily ever after. Granted I had been married before this was different. When I married Sonni it was out of convenience. I was marrying Marlo because of love. I couldn’t wait to be his wife. I felt honored that he even wanted me to have his last name.

Smiling brightly as I gazed into his eyes. “I said you weren’t my nigga. You my fiancé duuhhh.”

“That’s what I thought,” he said, smirking. He leaned down kissing me passionately. Breaking our kiss, Marlo rested his head against mine. “I love you Solana soon to be Wattson.”

“I love you more and I can’t wait to be your wife.”

THE END!
