“As you command, my angel,” he whispered huskily against her skin.

And show her, he did, on their wedding night and for many years to come. He might have first felt like an ordinary man who had lost out on life when he first saw Violet back at the Lyon’s Den but so much had changed since then. He had had so many doubts about being worthy of any woman to love, but Violet had changed all that. By choosing love and allowing the emotion into his heart, he had found a lifelong partner who would be his equal in every way. He would be forever grateful for their chance at finding happiness and to a certain Black Widow who had made it all possible. Love had found them both.

Epilogue

Mrs. Dove-Lyon satat her desk perusing several bills needing payment. Thanks to her successful matchmaking business, this past month had been a financial boon.

A knock sounded at the door and she called out for the servant to enter. She looked up to see yet another arrangement of flowers being delivered.

“Put them on the sideboard with the others, Sylvia, and bring me the card,” she ordered, pushing aside the bills.

The young woman did as she was bid, handing over the small card and also handing her an envelope. “This arrived as well, madam,” Sylvia replied.

Mrs. Dove-Lyon took both items. “Thank you. That will be all.”

“Yes, Mrs. Dove-Lyon,” the maid replied before quickly leaving the room and closing the door behind her.

She opened the small card that came with the flowers and smiled in satisfaction at another happy couple in the form of Captain and Mrs. Tyler, writing their thanks for all she had done on their behalf. She had to admit that she had had her doubts that the captain would come around. Despite everything that stood in their way, however, it seemed like everything had worked out in the end. Considering shedidn’t have to call in favors to have the couple invited to several London events was a bonus to be used for the next victim…er…umm.. client. She smiled again as she took up the other note and began to read.

Mrs. Dove-Lyon:

I would like to ask your assistance in finding my sister, Lady Anne Barlingham, a titled husband. I hope the enclosed draft will serve as a downpayment for your services. Please send a note when I can have a meeting with you to discuss the details.

Sincerely,

Orlando Barlingham, Marquess of Somerset

Setting down the letter, she took up the payment that would more than adequately be a starting point to finding the marquess’s sister a husband. Putting the check away in her drawer, Mrs. Dove-Lyon took out paper, and penned a quick note before sealing it with wax and her stamp. She stood and went to pulled the bell cord. Sylvia entered quickly and she handed the servant the note.

“See that this is delivered to the Marquess of Somerset,” she ordered as the servant bobbed a curtsy and left saying it would be delivered immediately.

She went to the sideboard and leaned down to smell the newly arrived flowers before she returned to her desk and took out a book of possible candidates for Miss Barlingham. The list was long but one name in particular caught her eye. He might just be as difficult as his friends had been but in the end, he, too, would come around. She wasthatgood and knew she would be making a substantial amount on this match if she played her cards right… and she always did, whether she rigged a game or two or not. She gave a light laugh, rubbed her hands together and began making her next plans.
