“I wasn’t.”Jayden crosses his arms on the other side of the marble island in my kitchen.“Did you decide on the security system?”
Ugh, that.
I lift my smoothie and take a sip, avoiding the question.Growing up with cameras pointed at me all my childhood, I’m strongly opposed to having someone watch me.
“Leaning towards no.I’ll stick with you.”
“I’m not here twenty-four-seven, Tiffany.Please reconsider.”
“I’ll take the risk.It may have been a one-off.”I drain the glass, rinse it and place it in the dishwasher.“Shall we go?I have a meeting with my brand agency, and parking is terrible.”
“Don’t you have a driver?”he asks.
“No, I love driving.”
That’s not entirely true.LA traffic is crazy.But again, I like being independent.Often I let Sadie drive, which she loves because, hey, it’s a Maybach, but I have a feeling Jayden will have a different opinion.
He groans and uncrosses his arms.“Nope.Not happening.I will be driving from now on.”
“Fine.My car is—”
He rudely halts me with one of his hands and puts his phone to his ear.
“How soon can you be here?”he asks whoever answers.“I’ll need the SUV.”
My brows lift.
“Jayden, I have a vehicle.”
“Let me guess, yellow...no, pink, convertible?”Jayden pockets his phone.
It’s my turn to cross my arms.“No, actually, it’s a silver Maybach.”
“Of course it is.”He rolls his eyes as he turns away, but I saw it.“Well, from today on, you’ll be transported in a reinforced Cadillac Escalade.”
I know what that means.It’s armored with ballistic glass and run-flat tires.
“No one is going to shoot at me with a rifle or try to blow up my car.This is ridiculous.”
Jayden’s lips twitch, almost smiling.A twinkle flickers in his eyes, and it’s the sexiest thing ever.“You know your stuff.”
I flick my hair over my shoulders and strut past him.“You’d be surprised what I know.”
He doesn’t reply, and I know it’s because he’s checking out my ass.

“SADIE, MEET JAYDEN, my bodyguard for a few weeks,” I say when we meet her outside the doors of Blush Empire.
Their sleek Hollywood offices overlooking the Hills give boutique vibes, but they work for some of the biggest celebrities in the business.Along with setting the marketing strategy and liaising with the manufacturers, they are my account managers.
“Nice to meet you.Let me know if you need anything.”Sadie gives me awowlook when Jayden tugs open the door.
