“What do you want to happen?” Finn draws me against him, tipping my chin up.
“What if I said I don’t want what we’re all doing to end?” My heart beats hard against my rib cage. Can he see it? Does he know that it’s pounding for him?
“What if we don’t?” Finn wraps his hand behind my neck.
“My family would never approve,” I whisper.
“Maybe you don’t give them enough credit.” He kisses my forehead.
“Maybe.” I don’t know though. There’s a reason the guys all stayed away before. I’m not sheltered but I’m definitely cared for. My mom and Tom have always been super-protective.
“We should get back.” Finn doesn’t release me but lowers his lips to caress mine as he says, “Or we can skip to the afterparty.”
I laugh. “Didn’t we?—”
“No, flower. We need to do a whole hell of a lot more than just that. I want to feel your pussy milk my cock dry.” He captures my lips and I open beneath him, sliding my tongue against his. A sigh escapes me.
I want that too. He lifts his head and his green eyes lock on mine. “But the others will hunt me down and torture me if I don’t bring you back.”
When I shrug and give him a feisty smile, he chuckles and draws me toward the door.
“If you keep looking at me like that, flower, we’ll be so late, no one will believe you were just crying.”
“That’s not really a compelling argument, you know?” I slide my hand over my dress and necklace to make sure everything is in place.
“We don’t need anyone telling your mother you snuck off with Finn Lawson at a fundraiser.” He arches an eyebrow as he opens the hidden door. “They’d be on the next flight home.”
He’s not wrong. If I ever tell her about them, I want her to hear it from me. I touch my lips. If …

Sara
I duck into the restroom while Finn waits outside the door for me. I want to fix my makeup and make sure there’s no evidence of our little excursion. Luckily, the ballroom is changing into a dance floor. People are up and wandering around, so our entrance should be less noticeable.
Dinner must be over and all that’s left is dancing until we want to leave, which may be sooner than later. I know I’d love this night to end. At least this portion. I’m not looking forward to talking to Verity or Olivia.
When I step out of the stall, I walk to the mirror to wash my hands and check my makeup.
“Oh joy, and here I thought I sent you running home like last time.”
My shoulders tense at Verity’s voice. She walks up to the sink next to mine and washes her hands.
“I’m not naive about you anymore,” I say to her reflection. “Before, I thought you were my friend.”
She laughs. “You were so easy. Little Miss Popular with her hot older brother and his equally hot friends. It didn’t take much to get you to let me in.”
My heart skips a little. “I didn’t have a good sense of what a viper you were.”
“People are such sheep. All anyone wants is to belong.” She smirks and turns to me while her fingers toy with her necklace. “At first, people didn’t want to believe me about you. Not Sara. But it was so easy to misconstrue your actions and lead them down the path toward your ruin.”
“Congratulations.” I draw in a breath. I’m not that green little eighteen-year-old anymore. “But none of this will end well for you.”
She arches an eyebrow like she doesn’t care about what I’m going to say. To be honest, she probably won’t, but I need to say it.
“This whole thing of dragging other people down? Eventually, someone will turn on you the way you turn on everyone else. Then you’ll be the one who doesn’t have any friends left.”
