She’s attractive. Maybe the socially awkward daughter?

“You must be Dante. I’m Nancy.” She steps forward with her hand outstretched. When I take it, she shakes my hand firmly and releases it. “My dad talked you into this. He’s still in denial. I have to admit, you’re a lot more attractive than the other guys he set me up with.”

She smirks and shakes her head.

I don’t say anything because what would I say?

“I hate to break it to you, because I’m sure you are a great fuck, but you and I… ” She taps my chest with the back of her hand before putting it over her heart. “We probably have similar tastes in dates.”

“You’re gay?” I’m not surprised or anything, just clarifying.

She smiles. “Dad doesn’t like that word. I’ve been trying out heterosexually challenged.”

I almost smile, but I need to clarify. “If you don’t want to go out?—‍”

“Oh, no. I’m just preparing you.” She grabs her clutch and a wrap from the table in the entryway. “I love a good benefit. All the pretty women. I’m not really one to partake at these things, so I’ll still be expecting you to bring me home at the end of the night. But I appreciate the beauty of nights like tonight.”

“Are you out?” I’m not sure if I should tell the others or if it’s a secret.

She steps up to me and straightens my tie. She shrugs a delicate shoulder. “Depends. Dad doesn’t like me to spread it around, but if I see something I like… ”

She pats my lapel and offers me her arm. “Are you ready?”

I hold out my arm for her and cock an eyebrow.

“If you insist.” She rolls her eyes but takes my arm.

The woman at the door gives me a wink on the way out. What the hell have I gotten myself into?

The driver holds open the door and I offer Nancy my hand to help her in. She takes it and gives me a look that says not to get my hopes up. I roll my eyes at her. She smirks and laughs.

“Oh, people.” She settles into the open seat and I get in behind her. Her gaze stalls on Sara.

Fuck, she does have the same taste as I do.

“I love your necklace.” She smiles.

“Thank you.” Sara glances down at it. “Your shoes are beautiful.”

Nancy lifts her foot. “I love a good shoe.”

“I’m Sara Morris.” Sara holds out her hand.

Nancy takes it and shakes it softly. “Nancy Anderson.”

Sara turns to smile at Drew.

Nancy’s sigh seems a little disappointed at Sara’s expression when she looks at Drew. She glances around the car, noticing Finn and Wyatt. Most women would notice them first.

“You two together?” She sits back against the seat next to me.

“No,” they say at the same time.

“Do you both have dates?” She looks way too excited about the prospect. I don’t know what to do about this development.

“Yes,” Wyatt says but glances at Sara.

Sara looks like she wants to say something about the other women, but she doesn’t.
