He looked absolutely twitterpated by the enchantress that was Charlotte James.
We both lowered into our seats and Charli slid her mimosa to me. “Just to get you started.”
I happily accepted it and gulped half of it down in one drink. When I sat the glass back on the tiled tabletop, I wiped the excess from the corners of my mouth with the back of my hand.
“Um, well…” I was trying to decide whether I would just tell her about the night we slept together or if I’d go all in and tell her about the night of the gala. I decided full disclosure was the way to go. “You know the night of the gala?”
“The night you hooked up but lied about it to me, yes.”
I couldn’t help but grin at her eerily accurate description and lowered my voice as I spoke to her “We didn’thook up. Not technically. We just kissed and...”
“You blew him,” she stated matter-of-factly.
“No, shh,” I hushed her as I looked around at the people seated around us to make sure that no one had overheard. Not because I was embarrassed or ashamed if I had. I actually wished I had, and I found that strange. I’d never been particularly enthusiastic about blowjobs. I did them, they were fine, but it’s not like I’d ever fantasized about them or craved giving one. Until Alex. When he slid his pants down and I’d seen him, my mouth sprung a leak, it filled with saliva.
My eyes scanned the area, covertly making sure no one was eavesdropping because Alex was sort of a public figure and people were interested in his private life thanks to him holding his Most Eligible Bachelor title. And since I’d been seen on his arm, people had been interested in me, too.
Several publications had reached out to me for a comment. As much as I’d love the publicity for Sweet Temptations, I declined to speak to them since I knew they’d just want to talk about Alex.
“I didn’t but he…he...”
Charli’s eyebrows wagged. “He ate your cupcake?”
I nodded.
In a sign of oral appreciation, she lifted her hand to give me a high five. I reluctantly slapped her hand, even though I was inwardly cringing.
“And that was it. Just that. Until, the other night when Lexi spent the night at her friend’s house and I went to the kitchen for banana bread and he was there.”
A flash of him standing with his back to me popped in my head. He was sexy all the time, but something about him in his kitchen, wearing only sweats, barefoot had been extra, extra, spicy hot.
A shiver ran through me just thinking about it.
“And…” Charli rolled her hands in a circle gesturing for me to continue.
“And he told me he wanted to kiss me, and more, but that it could be only one night. And I agreed. And that’s it.”
Charli stared at me with a blank expression.
“What?” I’d told her exactly what happened.
“I mean…I feel like you’re leaving out all of the fun details.”
I shook my head and lifted the mimosa to my mouth and downed the rest.
“Okay, fine, you don’t have to give me details but I have to know…was it good?”
I set the glass down and took a deep breath. I was not going to kiss and tell, but damn…it had been better than good.
“Holy shit!” Her eyes were wide. “It wasthatgood?!”
“I didn’t even say anything.”
“You didn’t have to. Your face is advertising your experience like a billboard on Sunset Boulevard.” She set her hands on the table and leaned forward so that she was just a few inches away from me, her eyes twinkling with delight. “Hedickedyoudown.”
I closed my eyes. “I still can’t believe thatyouare adoctor.”
“I’m not a pediatrician,” she shrugged. “Although, most pediatricians I know curse more than I do.”
