I clicked on the Uber app and saw that there was an option for car seats.

“Okay, sweetie. Come on. Our ride will be here in three minutes.”

I picked her back up and went through the shop to the front.

“I thought you were leaving!” Yana yelled, her hands in the air.

“We are.”

The car was there in less than three minutes and after getting Lexi secured in her booster seat, I sat back and tried to figure out what the next step I should take, would be.

I had no idea how to get ahold of anyone for her.

“Do you live with your grandma?”

She shook her head. “I don’t have a grandma.”

“What about Gigi?”

“She’s not my grandma. But she does live with us.”

“Who else lives there?”

“Just me, daddy, and Gigi.”

Okay, so was Mrs. Garrett her nanny?

“Do you know your daddy’s phone number?” She was young and it was a long shot, but I figured it was worth asking.

Lexi shook her head, and her bottom lip began to tremble.

“It’s okay. Don’t worry. Everything is going to be okay.”

I wasn’t sure who I was trying to convince more, her or me.
