“I will leave you now and return you to the cage. I will return with the army leaders, and we will come up with a plan. I promise.”

“No, My Queen, I have already been rewarded.”
He returns me to the cage, where I wait. Minutes turn into hours. Hours turn day into night.Where can he be?
I hear footsteps and relief washes over me. But as he enters the room, I see it’s not Kai. It’s Claus. “And was my pet a good girl today?” he asks smugly.
“Of course, My King. I am always a good girl for you.” Thoughts of Kai fucking me fill my head, and I smile sweetly.If you only knew, you fucking bastard.
“Yes, I am beginning to see that. Perhaps I will reward you tonight.”
“I would like that, My King.”Asshole.It really is a good thing that I can turn my thoughts off to him when I want. If he could read my mind all the time, this would never work.
He walks to the cage and unlocks the door. As I step out, he takes my hand. What used to make me feel all kinds of wonderous things now makes my skin crawl. Images of him fucking Evangeline fill my head and fuel my anger.
“Are you hungry?”
“Yes, My King, I am famished.”
“Then please, my pet.” He bares his neck to me. “Drink.”
I salivate. I may know what an incredible ass he is, but I can’t help the animalistic instincts I have when I am presented with blood, especially his. I bare my fangs and latch onto his neck. The sweet nectar hits my throat. Nothing, I mean nothing, has ever tasted so good.I will miss this when he is gone. But it is not enough to make me change my mind. And really, do I need to give this up? I can keep him around and enjoy the benefits his blood provides me. He can be my pet.

I continue to drink, and he says nothing about me stopping. He just lets me drink from him. Gathering all my strength and knowing my body has been rejuvenated, I force myself to stop and pull away, holding my hand to his neck to stop the bleeding.
“So soon?” he asks.
“I know my limits, My King. You’ve taught me well and to know when to stop.”
“Good girl, perhaps I will reward you again for your restraint.”

“I have to go away for a few days. The Tribunal is sending me to another coven. There have been humans invading and have killed some of our own. As you know, humans are now enslaved to the vampires. They need to learn their place. I am being sent there to show them just that.
That is not how it is supposed to be.“Oh, and you think your being away is a reward for me?”
He laughs. “I would think you would be happy to be rid of me for a few days.”If you only knew,I think to myself, but all I show him is sadness.
“I will miss you terribly.”
He pets the top of my head. “And I you.”
His going away is nothing short of a blessing for me. It will give me time to plan, and when he returns, I will be ready for him.We will be ready for him.I quickly realize I am no longer in this alone.Or am I? Why didn’t Kai come back? Maybe it wasn’t safe.
