Havoc
Sound comes back first.
Muffled.
Distant.
Like I’m underwater.
Then pain.
Sharp.
Immediate.
Everywhere.
I try to move.
Bad idea.
“Nash!”
Blaze’s voice cuts through the haze.
I blink.
Vision swimming.
Dust in the air.
Debris everywhere.
“I’m here,” I manage.
My voice doesn’t sound right.
Blaze drops beside me.
“You’re bleeding.”
“Yeah,” I mutter.
“Figured.”
I push up on one arm.
Pain shoots through my side.
My shoulder.
My ribs.
“Don’t move,” Blaze says.
“Not an option.”
