Chapter 29
Like a lullaby, Grayson’s soft words put me to sleep. I had missed being in his arms. My hero. My first.
I thought it would be different. Rough and quick. But Prince Charming took his time working my body into a state of desire, and by the time he pushed through that barrier, all I could see were stars and singing unicorns. Definitely singing unicorns.
The next morning, I awoke to the smell of breakfast.
Bacon?
Following the scent, I ended up in the kitchen, my peepers spotting him, a sight for sore eyes to see.
Grayson was over the stove, sweatpants dangling low across his waist, singing and shaking his ass to The Rolling StonesStart Me Up.
I stood there watching him sway, roll, and dip, as his back was to me, not a clue I was even in the room.
Diamond was walking around him, meowing—likely her version of singing along—rubbing against his legs with every pass.
“You two make a great duo.”
Grayson spun around, scrambled eggs falling from the spoon he was holding and onto Diamond’s nose.
“Oh, good morning, sunshine.” He smiled, both of us laughing when Diamond licked the egg off her nose. “I made us breakfast,” he said, turning off the bluetooth speaker.
I sashayed over to the coffee pot. “Coffee too? Wow, maybe you are more domestic than you think.”
He snuck up behind me, arms snaked around my waist, kissing the side of my neck as I poured a cup. “It’s decaf, baby.” The combination of his lips and warm breath against my skin caused a stream of chills to fall down my back. “And I told you I’m quite a pro when it comes to eggs, bacon, and toast. Have a seat so we can dive in.”
At the kitchen table, Grayson served me a plate of the surprisingly yummy-looking meal then grabbed his, along with a cup of coffee.
Diamond was busy going to town on her bowl of kitten kibble, that he obviously got ready for her.
“So, The Rolling Stones?” I chuckled, taking a bite of toast.
“Yep, for some reason, that song gets me going in the morning.
“Well, you gave quite the performance—more animated than Mick.”
His cheeks flushed. “How did you sleep? You were out cold when I woke up. Diamond’s face was on your head.”
I laughed because for whatever reason, she always ended up on my head.
“I always sleep well in your arms. You make me feel safe. My hero.”
“Good to know, baby.”
We finished our plates of food with idle chitchat about his parents, and how members of the house staff would be by to tidy up the place. He also explained either Nicola or Mya would likely pop in to help me get ready for the day.
“I don’t need anyone to help me get dressed, babe. Besides, where are we going today?”
“I thought we’d stop by Castle Primo to hang out with the kids—allow you time to meet the nuns.”
I felt a flood of happiness fall on my face. Something about getting to see Grayson’s softer side was appealing. “Are jeans okay?”
“Perfect.”
Camille and Finnjoined us on the ride to Castle Primo. They were professional, but anyone watching their interactions would have noticed the lingering glances, blushing, and I could have sworn I saw Finn mouth,I love you,at least once. They were a delightful pair, equally deserving of a chance at love.
Sitting in the third row beside Grayson, holding hands, fingers entwined, I honestly felt we were zooming along cloud nine. Peering out the window I took in Andorra’s rich landscape, the quaint shops, cute cafés, colorful houses, all surrounded by tall mountains.
