Grayson linked his large hand in mine, mouth working its way into a devious smirk. “You’ll have to wait and see.”
“What if I told you I’m not too fond of surprises?” I quipped, a smirk just as devious.
“Life is full of surprises, Bella.” Normally, that shortened version of my name made me shudder. Coming off his lips, all I wanted was to fan myself. “I promise, this is one surprise you’ll be super fond of.”
We rode in silence, peering out our respective windows while Finn and Camille chatted about local wineries they planned to visit. It was cute to see their love story unfold before my eyes, their faces all agleam, laughter giddy and free.
Before long, the car pulled to a stop in front of a shop with a pink-and-black sign that read,Minou Palais—Kitty Palace, in English.
Oliver and Finn stepped out then Camille, all three seemingly ensuring it was safe for Grayson and me to follow suit.
As we stepped intoMinou Palais, I beamed, hands on my cheeks, certain they looked as hot as they felt.
Four women dressed in pink-and-black aprons greeted us, each holding kittens.
Kittens!
“Grayson, what’s going on here?”
With one arm, he bracketed my waist, pulling me beside him. “Bella, I figured having a furry friend by your side, may help when you’re feeling anxious.” He leaned in and whispered, “You know, in the unlikely event your emotional-support prince isn’t available.”
My heart paused.
Never in my life did I imagine there could ever be a such thing as the perfect guy.
Until then.
