The woman snorted, and I rolled my eyes as I took in the sight of her wearing the finest in club whore couture. Lord have mercy, that was a lot of skin on display.
“It looks like you’re taking out the trash,” I smirked, then cocked a brow her way. The woman emitted a noise somewhere between a growl and a screech, causing Caleb to whip his head around to stare at her, while I just smiled at her reaction.
The bitch planted her hands on her hips and glared at me in outrage.
“Who the fuck are you? I’m with the club! Ain’t no fat-ass bitch gonna talk about me like that.”
Caleb opened his mouth, and I could tell he was getting ready to yell at her again, so I raised my hand to stop him. My voice was calm and sweet as honey as I put the stupid skank in her place.
“You aren’twith the club, honey. You spread your legs for the club. There’s a huge fucking difference. As for me, I’m his wife, and I can assure you, the only ass he’s going to be fucking is mine.”
Caleb ignored her as he lunged for me and scooped me up by my waist, planting his hands on my ass to hold me against him. I held on tight to the bag containing our lunch with one hand, as I wrapped my legs around his hips, thankful that I’d worn slacks to work instead of a dress. He turned us around and stomped back to his suite, and I waved at her – with my middle finger – over his shoulder as I called out, “And by the way, he loves my fat ass, bitch. Now get the hell out.”
I saw Lacey coming around the corner breathing fire, and figured she had things under control as Caleb slammed the door to his suite behind us. He whirled around and planted me in his tattoo chair, snatching the bag from me and tossing it on the counter before he leaned down and captured my lips with his. He brought his hands up to cup my face as he devoured me, his tongue spearing my lips and tangling with mine as he groaned loudly.
“Baby girl, you’d better be careful offering your ass like that. I’ve been barely hanging on to my control for the last two days, and I’m just seconds away from bending you over this chair and showing you just how much I’ve missed you.”
I laughed as I wrapped my arms around his neck, then looked pointedly around the room and told him he probably needed to have it fumigated.
“It reeks of Eau-du-Skank,” I informed him, wrinkling my nose in distaste to drive home my point.
His eyes widened in shock, then he threw back his head and laughed.
“You need to talk to King about getting a better class of whore in the MC, stud.”
He shook his head as he continued to chuckle.
“Yeah, she was fuckin’ awful,” he agreed with a shudder.
He kissed me again, before grabbing the bag of food and leading me down the back hallway to the break room. We ate quickly since I had to get back to work.
Once we finished, he showed me design for his new tattoo. I had to blink back tears as he showed me how it would be placed along his collarbone, with the cherry blossoms curving up onto his neck.
“It’s beautiful, but are you sure you won’t mind having pale pink and white flowers in such a visible place?” I asked, and he gave me a soft smile.
“Baby girl, I’d ink hot-pink flowers and unicorns all over my damned body if it would make you feel better,” he vowed.
I stared at the smooth, clear skin on his neck right above the neckline on his T-shirt, imagining the spot that had haunted me for months covered in a permanent symbol he associated with me. I raised myself up on my tiptoes and very deliberately pressed my lips over that very spot.
He held himself still as his eyes widened in shock, and I smiled in satisfaction as I tapped my finger on the stencil he’d printed.
“I love it, Caleb, and I love you for thinking of it.”
He swallowed hard, then told me he’d have Saint do it this week.
He kissed me again, only to be interrupted by the alarm on my cell phone, which I’d shoved into my pocket before I’d come in.
“I’ve got to get back to work,” I told him regretfully. “Are you still coming over for dinner?”
He nodded, then offered, “I’ll pick up Everly, so you and E can go straight home after school. We’ll be home a little after five.”
I flashed a quick grin filled with gratitude, pressed a quick kiss to his lips, then hustled out the door with a wave to Lacey, who waggled her eyebrows at me and blew me a kiss. I was still giggling when I slid behind the wheel and headed back to the school.
Ethan and I stopped at the park near our house for a little while after we left school for the day. It was a beautiful, Spring afternoon, and I watched with a smile as he ran around the playground area with one of his classmates, whose own mother had the same idea as me. She and I chatted for a bit while the boys played, then I called for Ethan as it neared five o’clock.
“It’s time to go, bud. Daddy and Everly will be home soon, and we need to start on dinner.”
He didn’t say anything about Caleb coming for dinner for the third night in a row, and I didn’t know if he had noticed or not. I was rapidly coming around to Caleb’s idea that we should move full speed ahead, becoming more certain with every passing hour that we would get it right this time, and we could make a relationship between us work again.
