He grinned.“That is the gift of the bloodline.Fortune.”He got out of the car and walked around to let her out.She pivoted her feet onto the sidewalk, and he pulled her upright, holding her against him.
She inhaled sharply and looked up at him.“Is the legal stuff done?”
“Almost.Now that Nelson has been arrested, things will go faster.Likon’s lawyer is doing everything but handing over his house.There is a lot of remorse on his side.”
“Okay.”
“He hasn’t contacted you?”
“I had the receptionist block him, and I didn’t give him the new number.”
“Ah.Perhaps you should.”
“Why?I don’t want to see him.”
“Speaking face to face makes things easier.I can arrange a meeting if you like.We could get it out of the way this evening.”
She wrinkled her nose as they walked into the restaurant.“But I was planning on doing laundry tonight.”
He looked at her in astonishment and grinned.“Now, that sounds like a fun Friday night.”
“Get your mind out of my panty drawer.”
He was still grinning when the hostess saw them.“Mr.Copperwell.This way please.”
“Eat here a lot?”
“The dumplings are fast, and I can get back to work.”
She grinned.“I can appreciate that.”
He didn’t let go of her hand until they were seated.He smiled, and they quickly ordered the dim sum for lunch.She smiled when the bamboo steamers were brought to them, and the spring rolls arrived a few moments later.
Eudora filled a small dipping dish with chilli sauce and gestured to Sern.“You go first.”
He grinned, took the chopsticks, and began to load the small bowl that disappeared into his hand.
She followed suit and muttered, “I think we are going to need more dumplings.”
Madame Fen was an unmistakable figure, and she came to them with a grin.“Mr.Copperwell, how are you this fine Friday?”
He swallowed and nodded.“I am doing well, Madame Fen.How are you and your family?”
“Very well.May I introduce you to one of my granddaughters yet?”
“No.I have found my intended.We are just working on the courtship.”
Eudora paused, shrugged, and kept eating.
Madame Fen turned to look at her and blinked.“Mrs.Chyris?”
“Yes, Madame Fen.Though Likon and I are divorced now.I am getting ready for the name change back to Calloway.”
“What happened?”
“Nessa astride him in the living room.”She smiled and continued eating.“That was the final hint I needed.Even I could figure that one out.”
