She was everywhere, as if she’d been wondering all the same things I was.
Someone opened my trailer door, but I didn’t stop kissing Royce. The moan that crawled up her chest indicated she had no intention of stopping me either. The intruder cleared their throat, and still I slowly pulled her lips between mine, savoring every second of having her in my arms.
“Boss, the city planner is here, he needs to talk to you.” Johnson’s voice finally broke through the air, and Royce slowly slid back. I watched how her hooded eyes remained on my mouth, as we both seemed frozen with me still between her parted legs, and her hands still gripping my forearms.
Johnson was stationary in the room, but I didn’t care, and the way Royce smirked told me she didn’t either.
“Boss, he’s right outside and on a deadline,” Johnson piped up again.
I curled a piece of her hair around my finger. “Are you working tonight?”
She breathed out a reply, “Yeah, until midnight. It’s an earlier night.”
“Okay, I’ll pick you up.”
She tilted her head, dragging her finger up and down my arm. “How exactly am I going to get there then, because I’m not leaving my bike.”
“I’d never ask you to leave your bike, baby.” I pressed a kiss to her jaw, right as Johnson cleared his throat again.
I finally turned around and addressed him. “I’ll be there in a fucking second.”
His jaw flexed, then he slid outside. Leaving us alone again.
“So this is how it’s going to be? You’re taking me to work and picking me up?” she asked with a smile.
I loved that fucking smile.
“Yeah, Rose. This is how it’s going to be.”
Her hair slid over her shoulder, making me want to shove her jacket off. “And if I say no?”
“You wouldn’t be here, sitting on my desk, wet between those silky thighs if you were going to say no, Rose. We’re doing this, and we’re not wasting any more time. You’re mine.” Pinning my forehead to hers, I whispered on a shaky breath, “Fucking finally.”
“I hope you’re sure, Ford, because once I’m yours, you’ll have a hell of a time getting me to leave.”
That made me laugh. “Never been surer, Wild Rose. I’ll see you tonight.”
I kissed her one last time before grabbing my hard hat.
SEVENTEEN
ROYCE
The band playingwasn’t holding my attention.
I felt really shitty saying that, but it was true. My distraction was warranted, considering the development with the man who’d kissed me senseless earlier. Ford had pulled up in front of my house to pick me up for work, slowly lowered his sunglasses, and smiled at me. It had frozen me in place, feet glued to my steps as I took a mental picture. It was one dipped in rose-colored glass. I refused to see any red flags that might accompany this new thing that had finally burst between us.
When he dropped me off, he’d held my chin and kissed me breathless. I had walked into work feeling as though I floated in on a cloud, and now I was sitting at the bar, drawing a heart around my name and Ford Ryan’s like I was fourteen again.
“Hey, Royce?” Nick suddenly appeared in front of me, hesitant as if he was nervous about interrupting me. He had messy blond hair that was too shaggy, but otherwise, he wasn’t a bad-looking guy.
“What’s up?” I shut the notebook, heat expanding in my chest that he might have seen it.
Nick glanced over his shoulder toward the hall behind the stage. “Rodney isn’t coming in tonight, and I really need to get somethingfrom his office. I know you do the books for him and wondered if you could unlock it for me?”
My brows curved. “Rodney isn’t coming in tonight?”
His hands slipped into his jeans as he shook his head. “No.”
