Some might think that was a diabolical choice, but Haze knew that he would flip more than a table if he got back and her little ass was missing, so he did them both a favor.

Luckily, when he got back around eight the next morning, Devyn was still asleep and looked like she’d barely moved.

Flashes of the night before, being between her legs, melted away the irritation from the long night he had. The fuck ass Blue Boyz that they were able to catch had been tortured for hours, but those little motherfuckers didn’t say a word about their boss, Azul. Haze wanted his hands on that nigga so bad, but all that bullshit was pushed to the back of his mind as he approached his bed.

Haze watched Devyn for a few moments, committing her features to memory. Her round face looked like a bunny rabbit, and her long lashes framed her slanted eyes perfectly, even when they were closed. Literally everything about her was perfection to Haze, and he wished the day would come where she was always attainable to him.

Soon enough, he promised himself before he leaned down and pecked her lips three times. He wasn’t even afraid of her drunken morning breath. That said a whole lot in his eyes because Haze was a clean freak. His mama made sure of that.

When her eyes fluttered open and landed on him, they grew wide.

“Oh shit,” she muttered and then groaned as she grabbed her head. “How much did I drink?”

“Lost count.” Haze laughed as he watched her slowly sit up.

“Shit, I need to get home.”

“Can you stay for another hour?” Haze asked with hope in his tone. He wished she would stay forever, but he didn’t want to push it.

“I really shouldn’t.”

“I need my good luck charm. We’re doin’ a race in about thirty minutes. Somethin’ lightweight so we can practice for the big race in Ellwood in a few weeks. It ain’t all that serious, but there is a bit of money on the line. What you say?”

They’d planned this race a week ago. It was just something they did from time to time to blow off steam and to show off their newest rides or tricks on their bikes. Haze almost canceled it this morning but realized they needed the morale boost now more than ever.

“I don’t know . . . I don’t even have any clothes.”

“I got a few things for you while I was out this morning,” he said. “Just an hour.”

He hated sounding like a begging ass bitch, but he wanted Devyn up under him since he didn’t get the chance to sleep with her in his arms.

She eyed him. “When did you leave? How do you even know my size?”

“So many questions, and you ain’t even answer mine.”

She sighed. “Fine, Haze, but I need to shower, and I need something on my stomach.”

“Done and done.” He hopped up and walked into his bathroom. After starting his shower and laying out fresh towels for her, he walked back into the bedroom. “Go ahead and shower. I’ll grab the clothes I got you and get you some food. Not to rush you, but try to be ready in thirty minutes, Thicka.”

He slapped her ass when she begrudgingly climbed out of bed, and she surprised him by giggling.

Yeah, good dick will do that to you, love.

He noticed how she had loosened up with him, and he loved it. In his mind, she was already his, so her getting more comfortable around him and his people was a foot in the right direction.

She disappeared into the bathroom and closed the door, and he went downstairs to see what they had for food.

Haze wasn’t surprised to see Pup down there, sitting at the counter with a muffin in his hand and reading the paper like an old man. The nigga was barely twenty, but he acted like he was older than Haze, who was thirty-seven.

“What’s good, lil homie?” Haze asked as he shook up with him.

“None much. Ready for this race.”

Haze grinned. “I don’t know why. You gonna lose, lil nigga.”

Pup swatted Haze away when he ruffled Pup’s locs.

“Just be ready to pay up,” Pup said before focusing back on the paper.
