My heart beats to the rise and fall of his chest, his steady breaths.

“No, home as in Minnesota. With you,” I say, opening my eyes. I look at him in my arms.

He stills. “If that’s what you want,” I say carefully. “But if you don’t—”

Hudson presses his lips to my skin.

He’s quiet for a moment, and I think he’s fallen asleep, but then he speaks.

“Is that what you want?”

“Yes.” I glance down at him, noting he’s staring at me. “I meant what I said about the future. I don’t know what that looks like, but I know I want you there. And you’re in Minnesota, so—”

Hudson grasps my jaw and pulls me to his lips.

“I want that, too,” he whispers.

I let out a contented, soft moan.

“Speaking of home…” I feel my eyes getting heavy. “When is your flight?”

“Tomorrow morning,” he says. “11:30. You?”

“Didn’t get one,” I admit. Hudson leans up, looking down at me. “What do you mean you didn’t get one?”

“I had this grand idea that maybe…” I roll over, onto my side. Hudson does the same. “Maybe if I was lucky, you’d forgive me and we could go hometogether.”

Hudson grins.

“Or….” He scoots closer, placing a hand on my hip.

“Or what?”

“I could cancel my flight, and we could get a car and drive home?”

“You’d love that, wouldn’t you?” I tease him.

“There are no storms in the forecast,” he says solidly. “I checked.”

I lean in and kiss him softly.

“I’m sure you did.”

He gives me a knowing look.

“We could spend the morning in bed,” Hudson says with warmth.

“Order chocolate croissants and coffee…” I say.

Hudson laughs. “Watch movies.”

“Read…” I say contentedly.

Hudson chuckles, his voice sleepy. “Fuck.”

My eyes close as comfort and exhaustion hit me. I hold him close to my chest, breathing in his rainwater scent and cherishing the warmth between us.

“Sounds perfect,” I say, my heart full of love and happiness.
