I’m overwhelmed by how he’s the only person outside Sarah, Bethany, and my family to see the ugly side of me and still stay. The angry, bitter part of me that I’m learning to let go. And yet he still decided he wanted me.

Lucas took the time to get through all of that, like he always knew it was worth it.

Iwas worth it.

Whatever happens between us, wherever life takes us, I know no one will ever love me the way Lucas does. Or smile when I get into one of my hissy fits over absolutely nothing. Lucas chooses me like it’s as easy as breathing. Taking time to learn and memorize me in a way no one has ever cared to do.

I love him just the same.

“I’m staying for as long as you’ll let me,” he mumbles against my damp hair that without a doubt smells like sea salt.

I squeeze just a little tighter.

Good. Stay.

The End
