“Rowan!” Danny hollered again, but as the tires screeched on the gravelly road, I knew that they came. They came for me.

“Fuck, fuck, fuck!” Danny cursed and when I turned my head to the side, I saw his retreating form disappearing into the woods.

“Skylar!” Ash thundered.

I tried moving Rowan off of me, pressing my hands to his sides, but something sticky came in contact with my palm. The light from the cars illuminated us enough for me to see what it was.

I lifted my arm closer to my face, seeing the red liquid smeared over my palm.

“Ro?”

“I’m sorry, Skylar,” he grunted and rolled off of me with a painful cry.

“Rowan, no.” I pulled myself up and looked down at him. His face was losing color, his eyes shuttering closed. “Stay with me, Ro.”

Blood trickled from his left side, coating the stones beneath us. I pressed my hands against the wound just as another pair of hands landed on my shoulders, trying to pull me away from him.

“No!” I cried out.

“Moonshine,” Ash breathed against my hair. “You need to let me see.”

“I can’t,” I cried, trying to keep the blood inside. “He’s going to be okay. He needs to be okay,” I murmured more to myself than to him.

“Little One.” Dylan approached on the other side of Rowan, looking at me. “We need to get him to the hospital.”

“He’s hurt,” I sobbed. “God, this is all my fault.”

“No, no, no, don’t say that,” Ash mumbled. “None of this is your fault.”

“He saved me.” I sniffled. “Rowan, stay with me!” I yelled out as his eyes started closing.

“R-Run,” he mumbled.

“Rowan,” I whimpered.

“Run, Skylar.”

“What the fuck is going on?” Another voice joined in and as I turned my head, I saw Kane rushing toward us. “Fuck,” he cursed.

“Danny happened,” I bit out. “Motherfucking Danny happened, Kane.”

Anger, pain, sadness, they all burned through me, consuming me body, mind, and soul.

“Ash,” I called out for him. “I want you to find him,” I growled. “I want you to find him and show him what real pain is.”

“Moonshine—”

“Now, Ash!”

He had to pay for this. He had to be held accountable for what he did.

“Okay, alright. Where did he go?”

“Into the forest,” I said, looking at the spot where Danny disappeared to. “There’s a path there that leads to the main road. He can’t hide forever.”

“Dylan,” Ash said. “You’re coming with me. Kane, take them to the hospital. We need to move Rowan to your car.”

All of this went on for too long. This misery they bestowed upon me went on for far too long, and tonight we would end it all. Danny wasn’t going to escape, and I knew that Ash and Dylan would find him.
