It didn’t take him long to pull Ophelia with him and start walking back toward the exit of the club, leaving me behind with an angry Indigo. The two of them passed next to Storm who just kept standing, staring at Ophelia with a mixture of hatred and love.

What the fuck was his problem?

I didn’t have to see Atlas’s face to know that he was glaring at Storm as they passed next to him, but as soon as they disappeared from his eyesight, Storm started walking toward Indigo and me.

“What the fuck was that, Indigo?” I asked first, even before Storm came to us. “I’m supposed to be leaving my brother with you guys, yet you—”

“I what?” he barked, his eyes violent. “She is not a saint, kid. She did things you could not even imagine.”

“That doesn’t mean that she needs to die,” I argued.

“Death would be too kind for her,” he answered, glaring at the door where Atlas and Ophelia disappeared. I looked to the side where Skylar, Dylan, and Sebastian were just a moment ago, only to see Dylan standing there all alone, glaring at us.

He shook his head and crossed his arms just as Storm reached Indigo and me. I couldn’t see Skylar or Sebastian, but I knew that Dylan wouldn’t let anything happen to them. No matter what.

“We need to talk,” Storm all but barked. “I understand that you know about Nikolai Aster?”

“I do. But Skylar knows a lot more.”

“Where is she?” He turned around looking for her, but I stepped in front of him, uncaring that he could kill me if he wanted to.

“You don’t get to look at her,” I hissed. “After what I just saw, I’m not quite sure that you guys know how to treat females.”

He laughed and dragged his hand over his face. “Kid, Ophelia is not your usual female. She can handle it.”

“Just because she can handle it, doesn’t mean that she should. Skylar could handle a lot, but it doesn’t mean that I would allow another man to strangle her in front of my own eyes, even if I wanted to kick her ass for the things she did.”

“Ash,” Indigo warned, placing his hand on my shoulder, but I shook him off.

“So tell me, Storm, are you going to treat Skylar the same way you’re treating Ophelia, or is it going to be even worse for her since you’re not in love with her?”

He stepped back, as if my words physically hurt him, but it was obvious to everyone who was watching. Storm was in love with Ophelia, and it was killing him.

“Take him to the office upstairs.” Storm looked at Indigo. “I have something to finish.”

Without another word, he started walking toward the door, leaving the two of us standing there.

“You have some balls, kid.” Indigo chuckled. “But trust me, you don’t want to get in the middle of that.”

“What happened to them?” I asked, following him as he started walking toward the staircase in the far left end of the club.

“It’s complicated,” Indigo muttered. “And, kid, I would never treat Skylar in that way. But Ophelia… Dammit, I really want to strangle her sometimes.”

“But why?”

He slowed down as we reached the middle of the stairs and looked down at me.

“Ophelia is an assassin, kid. That sweet persona is nothing but a facade she loves putting on, in order to fool other people. But trust me, she could kill you without blinking an eye. They don’t call her Baba Yaga because she pets kittens on her way to the grocery store.”

“No shit, Sherlock,” I murmured. “I’m just trying to understand what’s going on here.”

“Trust me, you don’t want to know.”

And maybe I didn’t. As we went upstairs into the office, I wondered if it was the right decision to bring all of us here.
