Seamus sucking on my clit might have helped.

FIFTEEN

By the timewe come up for air, the dinner bell has been rung.

Like, literally, a dinner bell. One that clangs and everything.

After a quick shower, which ends with another mind-blowing orgasm, we get dressed and head toward the elevator. I follow the twins, silently contemplating what the fuck I am planning on doing. I don’t want to spy on my father for them, but if the only way to gain their trust is to pretend that I believe them, so be it.

Then why is there a ball of dread in the pit of my stomach?

Something isn’t adding up. These men believe my father is the bad guy here. They didn’t try to dissuade me when I told them they are the criminals, but there is no way in hell my father can be complicit or responsible for the crimes they allude to him committing.

Murder?

Organizing hits?

There isn’t a black mark anywhere on my father’s record. Not even a speeding ticket. Whoever is feeding them this information is wrong.

They have to be.

“I take it everything is all settled now.” Liam addresses the twins as we take our seats at the table while the servers set downplates of steaming vegetables, pot roast, and potatoes. Damn, a girl could get used to food like this.

“We made sure everything is well understood.” Kiernan smirks as he eyes me. I can feel the heat rising in my cheeks at the not-so-subtle innuendo.

“Good.” Their father crooks his head at one of the servers, who begins immediately plating the food and passing it out. His eyes turn toward me. “We don’t need any more unrest in the house than there already is.”

Fucking fuckity fucker.

Who the hell does he think he is chastising me like that?

He is lucky he is the head of the Irish mafia, or else I would give him a piece of my mind.

Hell, the only reason I am not is because my ass is still sore from earlier.

“Have you given any thought to what I said?” Dashkov asks from across the table. “The gala would be an easy place to trade the information we are looking for, and from there, we could come up with a strategy for the next auction.”

“What auction?” I ask curiously.

“The one we believe your friend Lina to be at,” Matthias tells me. “Where she will be sold.”

“I already told you she isn’t doing it,” Kiernan growls next to me.

“It is our best chance,” Dashkov prods dangerously. “If we don’t act now, we will lose the edge. We need that information to take down Ward and the rest of them. If we don’t act soon, that opportunity will be lost.”

“Fuck the opportunity,” Kiernan hisses. “Do you honestly think that Crowe won’t sniff out a rat? He didn’t get where he is today by being stupid. He knows how to read people, and Bailey is shit at hiding her thoughts.”

I let out a weak protest, but he ignores it.

“She will be a sitting duck.”

“He will be blind to her,” Matthias assures him. “She is his daughter.” There is something in the way he says daughter that feels off. As if he doesn’t believe it. I wonder if he has been filled in already about me not being adopted.

“It isn’t just him she is worried about,” Seamus pipes up. “If any of the men backing him get wind of her spying, they will find a way to get rid of her to keep everything shut down. He is making a bid for president this year. Do you honestly think that the men pushing his career to the top will let her live if they find her spying on him? She will be a loose end.”

“She already is,” Matthias growls. “She has been digging into her friend’s disappearance. Do you honestly believe that has gone unnoticed? This could give her an opportunity to help find her with us watching her back.”

“Wait,” I interrupt. “What does?—”
