“You can go.”

I gave him my best fake smile, rose from the chair, and hurried out of the office before he had a chance to say anything else. What the hell was his problem?

As I walked past the meeting room, I looked through the windows and noticed Sebastian wasn’t in there. Had he finished already? He wasn’t in his office, either.

Great. Where the hell had he gone? Guess we weren’t going to finish our conversation after all.

I needed some air.

I stepped outside the main office building and took a deep breath to try to calm the frustration swirling around in my stomach. Sebastian was gone, and Caspian was questioning my employment.

“Aria.” I heard that voice I knew too well and turned around.

Callum stood in front of me with a big smile on his face, a coffee in one hand and a bouquet of purple roses in the other.

“What are you doing here?”

“I thought I’d surprise you with coffee and flowers.” He handed me the cup and roses.

“I need it. These are beautiful.”

He wrapped his arms around me, pulling me into his chest, and his dark musk smell hit me, allowing that frustration to leave me.

“You look a little stressed.”

“It’s been a day.”

He gave me a small smile. “How about I take you out for dinner? Maybe it’ll save the rest of it.”

“I’d love to. It’ll be a nice change from staring at the walls,” I joked, pulling away from his embrace.

“That doesn’t sound good.”

“It’s fine. Don’t worry about it.”

He took hold of my hands. “You know you can tell me anything.”

“I know. We’ll talk about it tonight. I’d better get back in.”

“I’ll pick you up from here at five.”

“I can’t wait.”

Aria

Imessaged Logan that afternoon and told him I had plans after work and not to bother picking me up.

Instead, Callum collected me.

It was a nice change to be out somewhere, doing something, other than being alone at home.

He’d brought me to a pizza place in central London. Callum had money, a lot of money, and he wasn’t shy of spending it, but he also knew I didn’t care for it. That I didn’t need to go to a fancy restaurant for dinner.

We sat at the table, and he ordered my usual. He hadn’t forgotten what I liked on my pizza—always the same.

“You look really pretty with your hair down,” Callum said softly.
