“Considering we don’t know who or how many are in there, we should go in as humans. Our bears are too big for most indoor situations. And even the tigers are too big. Besides, we need to be able to communicate and the humans here don’t understand shifter talk.”
“That’s because your shifter noise is like listening to a balloon loose its air.” Sebastiano rolls his eyes.
“I take offense to that.” Apollo squints at him.
I laugh. “Leaky balloon?”
“Have you heard the bears laugh? They sound like they’re wheezing and not getting enough air. I always wonder if one of them is going to pass out.”
We all laugh as we continue to plan. We’ll be going in tomorrow and the only thing left is to split up the groups for eachof the raids. No matter how hard I try, I’m so worried about it. I don’t want to lose anyone. And there’s so much that we don’t know.
Apollo
I can feel how worried Seraphina is about tomorrow. I can’t say I’m not worried, but I know how our family works. And we’ve had situations like this before. So I know I trust every single one of my brothers and sisters that are here with me. The only one I’m really worried about is my girl. I hate that she’s going to be one of the ones going into the facility. The memories that she has being in there worry me. And the fact that I won’t be there with her is even worse. I told my baba that I want to be in the facility with her and he agreed. But he said he won’t put us in the same group.
“We’ll have another change out with our guys. They’ll be on guard for six hours and then we’ll do the raid. We’re going to time it to when Matilda and Paul head to the facility. Armando said that today they left at eight am. So I’m guessing it’ll be the same tomorrow. I want Valentino, Keegan, Eros and Adonis there. Valentino and Adonis you’re on the farmhouse. You’ll follow Matilda and Paul. I also want to know if anyone else shows up at the house. Eros and Keegan, you’re on the facility. They’re supposed to change out their guards at nine am if they follow today’s schedule. If anything changes, use the coms to talk. No cell phones. Our coms will work between the farmhouse, facility and here. We have enough for everyone to have one.”
There’s a knock at the door, Adonis goes over and looks out. A smile breaks out on his face as he opens the door. In walks more of our Lake Renegade family.
“We thought you could use more help.” Enea chuckles as hugs each of us.
He’s brought ten more of our Lake Renegade family. This is how our family works and I’m forever grateful to have each and everyone of them.
“Now I know why you weren’t answering my calls.” Baba laughs.
“We thought it would be more dramatic to just show up. Antonio wanted to come, but Harper went into labor right before we were heading to the airport.” Enea smiles.
Our family just keeps growing and I can’t wait to add to it with Seraphina. My baba brings all the new guys up to date. Then we decided to call down to the restaurant in the hotel, thankfully they’re able to get a table together for all of us. We spend dinner going over our plan and letting everyone look at the blueprints. Now that we have more people to help, I feel like we have the element of surprise.
We finally have our plans down and everyone knows what their role is tomorrow. Even though I trust every single person here, I’m still worried.
“I still can’t believe that Matilda and Paul are a part of this shit.” Ares frowns.
“I’m amazed at how fast they got to Australia and coordinated this. But I don’t think they’re running it. Paul was too much of a coward to be a leader.” Haruki says to us.
Haruki was taken and forced to work with Paul. He had no idea that his sister was one of the ones that was being exploited. The sad part is he was just as much a victim as Sakura was. They were just used in different ways. Samantha convinced Haruki that if he didn’t help her, she would have his parents killed. But she never showed him his parents. He said he thought about running, but what if she wasn’t lying? He couldn’t live with that. She told their parents that Haruki and Sakura weredead. They never truly believed it, but they felt that they had nothing to really live for and so they stayed. But they sabotaged the experiments. So they did good while they were there. Now they’re all back together and part of our family.
“I agree, I remember Paul pissing himself in the interrogation room. There’s no way that asshole could lead anyone.” I nod.
“But Matilda? I saw the look in her eyes. She’s fucking pure evil, like their mother. And this is the last time she’s going to fuck with any shifter.” Ares growls.
“What is fucked to me is that they’re shifters. How can they want to hurt other shifters?” Luciana Bastianini asks.
“That’s something we should ask her when we get back home.” Giacomo, her papà, says to her.
“I agree.” Enea nods. “There’s a lot of questions that need answers to.”
We all look at Hanako, who puts her hands up.
“I already agreed that I will go to bat with the cleaners. I agree that Matilda and Paul don’t deserve to be out ever again. They’ve proven that they won’t hold to their word.”
The one thing we don’t do is kill women and children. So while we won’t be killing Matilda, we will be making sure that she’s locked up with the cleaners for the rest of her life. And that is a little relief in this madness.
“Will the cleaners agree with what we want?” Enea asks.
“I think they will. When Matilda and Paul were released, they were specifically told that they won’t get a second chance. That if they were found to be doing anything illegal or against shifters, they would never be out again.”
“That’s good to know. I only want Matilda and Paul alive tomorrow. They need to give us answers. The other fucks that are involved? I don’t give a fuck.” Baba says to everyone.
