She linked arms with her parents, the trio smiling jubilantly.

Owen took Mackenzie’s hand and held her back as his family exited the house. He faced her. “I liked your family before today, but now I know why you’re such a special person. I’m honored to be part of it. Unofficially now, but who knows, we could make it official in the future.”
She rested her hands on his shoulders. “We really need to get to the hunt. Not because I want to skunk anyone, but because I want to claim my share of the charitable tasks.”
“Like I said, a special woman. You have all of this in front of you.” He released her and gestured at his body. “And you choose helping others.”
“Yeah, but all of that will be there when the hunt is over. And then? Well then, I’ll be glad to kiss you and make it better for letting you down now.”
He laughed. “Woman, you are going to bring me a lifetime of surprises, and I can’t wait to get started on that journey.”
She grabbed his hand. “Then let’s go. I know all of the best egg-hiding spots.”
“Are some of them good for stealing a kiss too?”
“Absolutely.” She grinned.
“My parents raised me not to steal, but in this case, I’m sure they’ll understand and grant me immunity.”
“No stealing required.” She smiled up at him. “I plan to give you as many kisses as you want for the rest of our lives.”
