But looking down at the woman, she had no idea what to do as her brain battled with her body for control.

CHAPTERSIXTY-FIVE

Brokk’s cockstirred as the woman moved erotically while issuing a low, throaty moan that conjured images of sex. It brought to mind some of the orgies he’d attended where he couldn’t separate one body from another.

That sound brought his dark fae hunger surging to the forefront as the scent of sex rose to ensnare him. Her lids half lowered over her eyes as she licked her lips. There was no sign of the repulsive appendage now, only a glistening tongue that could suck his shaft dry.

She’s so beautiful….

Her fingers brushed his side as her hips rose beneath him. A shudder went through him, except this wasn’t one of pleasure.

Instead, revulsion rose from the depths of the lust trying to consume him. Her touch wasn’t right… it wasn’t the one he wanted….

Closing his eyes, he shook his head to clear it of the fog trying to creep in and muddle his brain. When he opened his eyes again, he found himself staring into the woman’s clear green eyes as she smiled seductively at him and caressed her nipple.

“I can make you feel better than anyone else ever has. You can do whatever you want to me, wherever and whenever you want. I’m yours to please, and I’ll make you feel so good.”

When she touched his side again, Brokk sneered at her, and a flicker of unease flashed through her eyes while she continued to move in that seductive way. Those weren’t the eyes he wanted to see beneath him.

I want… I need…

He couldn’t quite put his finger on what he sought, but he knew it was out there somewhere. And it was close.

Keeping the blade against the woman’s throat, he turned to discover Kaylia standing behind him, her face etched with confusion as she rubbed her temples. She took a step back before freezing.

Her.He longed for her far more than the naked, entirely willing woman beneath him.

Kaylia’s apprehension sent a jolt of adrenaline through him as she started to lift her sword before lowering it again. Whatever these things did to him, it had left him weakened, but he’d die to keep her safe.

His attention shifted to the others as the witches also crept closer to the orange-haired beauty beside him. With their faces slack and their attention riveted on the women, they were entranced by their movements.

Ryker still had his blade to the orange-haired woman’s throat. When she spread her legs and slid her fingers between them, he licked his lips, and his sword dipped a little.

Brokk had no idea what these monstrosities were, but he had to stop them before they destroyed everyone here. Enclosing his hand on the black-haired beauty’s throat, he kept her pinned to the ground as he lifted his sword and, with one violent motion, brought it down across the orange-haired woman’s neck.

A short scream broke from her before Brokk succeeded in decapitating her. Blood seeped free to stain the ground, and when her head rolled toward him, Brokk flicked it away with his sword.

For a second, no one moved as they all gawked at what remained of the woman. Then, fury clouded their features, and Brokk prepared himself to leap up, grab Kaylia, and envelop them in shadows.

He was weak but would use the last of his energy to get her away in case they all decided to turn on them. These women were dangerous; they clouded minds and turned rational immortals into mindless drones.

Brokk kept his eye on them as he brought his blade back to the other woman’s throat and tensed to flee. He’d kill her first. He had no idea what she’d done to Ryker and the others, but he wouldn’t leave them to her mercy, and he wouldn’t have her pursuing them if she managed to escape or kill everyone here.

Blinking, the confusion cleared from Kaylia’s face, and their gazes met. They stared at each other until Brokk shifted his attention to the confused others.

Kaylia whispered some words as her fingers wove their magic. While he couldn’t see it, he felt the swell of her power as it rose to surround them. She’d prepared to protect them from Ryker and his followers.

CHAPTERSIXTY-SIX

Ryker’s eyes squinted closed. He opened and closed them again before resting his hand against his temple. Confusion flitted across his features before it cleared away.

“What the fuck?” he muttered.

Behind him, the others were also emerging from the depths of whatever spell these creatures had woven. Brokk shifted his attention to Kaylia. “Keep an eye on them.”

When she rested her hand on his shoulder, Brokk pushed his blade deeper into the woman’s throat, drawing a trickle of blood from her pale flesh. She sucked in a breath as her body arched a little beneath his and licked her lips again, but he felt no stirring of desire.

He didn’t check on the others; if they were falling victim to her again, it wouldn’t last, as she’d soon be dead, and Kaylia’s spell would keep them protected for a bit. The woman’s beautiful eyes flicked between him and Kaylia before a look of resignation settled over her face.
