Kaylia held up her hand. “I’ll tell you all that, but first, what kind of immortals are you?”

She wasn’t about to reveal any more, not even for crudue vine, if there was a possibility these immortals could turn on them and invade Dragonia while Lexi was at her weakest. There were thousands of different immortals throughout the realms; some were far more power-hungry than others. If she knew what they were, she would better understand their character.

She might have already revealed too much by letting them know the crudue vine was for Lexi, but they’d be in for a rude awakening if they tried to take over Dragonia and encountered the Shadow Reaver.

Cole and the dragons would tear them to shreds before they made it anywhere near the castle. But she had no intention of telling them any of that. She’d give Ryker enough to get what she wanted in return but never reveal all their secrets.

Ryker smiled at her. “We are known as the amsirah.”

CHAPTERTHIRTY-FIVE

Kaylia’s eyebrowsrose at this revelation, but she should have guessed it from the unnaturalness of that storm. She’d been a little too busy at the time to put all the pieces together, and the amsirah rarely left their realm.

She hadn’t seen or heard about them in centuries. Although, she’d spent a good portion of that time shutting herself away from the happenings of the realms.

“What are you doing here?” she inquired.

Ryker tilted his head to the side while studying her. “I’m the one asking the questions.”

“You want answers, then you’ll also have to give them,” Brokk stated from behind her.

Ryker smiled while stretching his legs before him. “You’re not exactly in the position to make demands. I know where to locate whatyouwant.”

“So you say, but we have no proof.”

Ryker looked at Allegra. “Do you still have some of the vine?”

“Yes.”

“Please show it to our guests.”

Allegra spun and pushed past the curtain covering the entrance to leave the hut. The curtain rustled as it settled back into place.

Kaylia eyed Ryker with interest as she recalled what she knew about the amsirah. “Does Leonidas still rule Tempest?”

A muscle twitched in Ryker’s clenched jaw at the mention of his king and realm. “He does.”

“I met him once, many, manyyears ago. He was a good man then.”

“He still is.”

“Good. The years have a way of corrupting immortals… especially those with power.”

“They do, but Leo remains just in his rule and stalwart in his convictions to protect his realm and people.”

Kaylia didn’t miss the fact this man had called his king by a nickname, one most likely reserved for only those closest to him. That meant this man held a lot of power in Tempest and probably in himself.

Anamsirah. She marveled over this revelation. It was so rare to see them outside their realm; they mostly kept to themselves and were a powerful race that could rain down hell on those who crossed them… literally.

They could control the weather, but not all of it. Each of them possessed certain weather-controlling abilities. Some held power over the rain, others fog, some held sway over the wind, or lightning and thunder, and others could control snow, ice, and hail.

And some could control more than one weather element at a time. King Leonidas could control four different weather types, but none of them had ever possessed the ability to control all five.

“How much of the weather canyoucontrol?” she asked Ryker.

A corner of his mouth twitched toward a smile. “How much do you think?”

The power emanating from the man crackled against her skin. “I’m guessing two or three different elements.”At least.“And someone here is a lightning bearer.”
