“I’m sure I can find something.”

He bent and kissed her forehead. “I can’t wait.”

“Neither can I.”

“Cole,” Brokk said.

Cole turned as Brokk, Orin, and Varo strode through the trees toward them. His youngest brother still looked like he’d been hit by a truck and seen a dozen ghosts, but at least Varo was coming with them for this. It was some sign of life from a beaten-down man.

“Are you ready?” Orin asked.

“I am.”

When Lexi opened a portal, they traveled through it to the Gloaming. It had been a while since he last saw his kingdom, sat on his throne, and claimed the ruined land.

He would change that now. It was time to bring the dark fae home, rebuild the Gloaming, and fix everything the Lord destroyed.

They would also bury Niall’s sword today. Lexi had put off doing it until he was back, and now, it was time to say goodbye to his friend.

He placed the sword in the ground with those of the other dark fae heroes. When the time came, he would build a monument to his friend, who gave everything to help destroy the Lord.

CHAPTERFIFTY-NINE

Over the next few days,Lexi wished she could spend all day with Cole in the Gloaming, but she couldn’t spend that much time away from Dragonia. Things were calmer but far from perfect.

So, she went in the morning but returned a couple of hours later to deal with the petty arguments brought to her by the different realms, rebuilding the land, and the return of immortals who lived and worked within the palace.

She also had to deal with the different immortals who sought to pledge their fealty to her. When they knew someone was coming that day, Cole would also return to Dragonia to stand by her side as the immortals pledged their loyalty to them and Dragonia.

Most of the lycan packs had arrived, and many of the vampires had come alone or in small groups. Vampires mostly tended to remain alone unless they banded together to create havoc or help fight.

The witches, crones, sirens, nymphs, pixies, imps, gnomes, unicorns, sasquatch, pegasuses, light fae, giants, dwarves, and even some warlocks had sworn their loyalty. She still hadn’t seen the demons, ogres, orcs, trolls, berserkers, zombies, mermaids, and many of the different immortals who existed, and she may never see them.

Many were solitary and preferred to be left alone in their groups. She was okay with that as long as they didn’t try to cause any problems; if they did, they would pay for it.

While peace reigned throughout the realms, she would be happy.

In the afternoon, she worked with Amaris, Sahira, and Kaylia to prepare her wedding dress. It was simple and beautiful, and she never imagined she could be so excited about clothing.

She and Cole were already as bound together as they could get, but now everyone throughout the realms would officially know how tight that bond was. There were still those plotting to take them down, but together, they would defeat them all.

Lexi hummed to herself as she entered the sewing room Amaris had established on the second floor. Amaris was already there with Lexi’s dress in her arms and a brilliant smile on her pretty face. Lexi turned to her guards and waved to them before closing the door on the lycans.

“This is our final fitting,” Amaris said. “After today, everything will be all set.”

Lexi bounced on her toes and practically clapped her hands in excitement as she walked over to Amaris. Sahira and Kaylia were finishing a potion and would be here soon, but she couldn’t wait to put her dress on again.

“Let’s get to work,” she said.

After she undressed to her bra and underwear, Amaris helped her don the beautiful white gown. The lace front of it hugged her breasts before becoming more shear and turning into more lace around her shoulders.

The sleeves were sheer until another lacy pattern above her elbows ended them. A slit up the narrow skirt went halfway up her thigh. It was a relatively simple dress that flowed around her while she walked, and she couldn’t wait for Cole to see it.

As she slipped the sleeves on, she felt beautiful and giddy. She could barely stand still, something Amaris scolded her for as she slid the buttons on her back into place.

“Almost ready,” Amaris murmured.

Lexi tried not to tap her feet or bounce up and down while she waited, but it took everything she had to remain still while Amaris worked.
