The three of them left the room. When the door shut behind them, Lexi turned off the fire crackling along her arms and turned to the dragons.

“Thank you,” Lexi said, “but you can go now too.”

They chuffed, and the green one nudged her with his head before they all took flight.

CHAPTERFIFTEEN

Orin leanedagainst the wall and kept his head bowed as he propped his foot on the wall behind him. Despite his casual posture, he was acutely aware of the lycan pacing across from him and the others hovering around the door.

He disliked the lumbering beasts and the tension they emanated. He never understood why beings such as these allowed their emotions to rule them. The idiots would one day die because of it.

A step in the hall drew his attention as another lycan rounded the corner and stalked toward him. Except, this wasn’t a member of Maverick’s pack; Daphne had lived with him in the prison realm.

When she spotted the other lycans, she stopped and waved him over to her. Orin pushed himself away from the wall and strode down to meet her.

“What is it?”

She glanced past him as she spoke in a whisper. “Your brother has been spotted.”

He forgot his irritation with the lycans as he stiffened. He still had three living brothers, but she could only be talking about one of them. He’d sent out word that he’d reward all who came to him with valid information on Cole.

“Where?” he demanded.

“Aurora.”

Orin’s eyebrows shot up at this revelation. He wouldn’t have been surprised to find any other dark fae or immortal there, butnotCole, not even in his vengeful, shadow-enshrouded state.

He sure as shit didn’t want to experience it, but he’d seen the love his brother possessed for Lexi. There weren’t enough shadows inallthe realms to make Cole stray from her.

But maybe hecouldbe wrong on occasion.Nah, not possible.

“Are you sure it was Cole?” he asked.

“Yes, they’re saying he left a massacre in his wake.”

“So, he wasn’t there for sex?”

The woman frowned at him. “How would I know?”

“You know about this.”

“Only because the talk of it is spreading throughout the realms. Whatever he did in Aurora was bad enough to scare the immortals there. They’re terrified of him, and that fear is spreading through the realms.”

Orin rubbed his chin. “They should be, and it should.”

Turning, Orin studied Brokk and Del while he pondered her words. He preferred to work alone, but he couldn’t keep this from them. They would only hear about it soon enough anyway.

When he waved them over, they stepped away from the door and strode down the hall to join him. Orin wiggled his fingers at them when the lycans turned to watch. They scowled in return.

“What is it?” Brokk asked as they stopped before him.

“Cole has made an appearance,” Orin said.

“Where?” Del demanded.

Orin hesitated; he wasn’t sure how the vamp would take hearing that his future son-in-law was at one of the most notorious sex palaces in the realms, but if he didn’t tell Del, someone else would.

They might be able to keep it from Lexi, at least for a little bit, but Del knew too many immortals. He would hear about it soon enough.
