“I’m not sure. It’s been a while since I last saw her, but I would assume so.”

Lexi scratched Belindo’s chin. The giants were not going to be happy to hear that. “Let’s get this over with.”

“You have all the dragons behind you,” Alina promised. “No one will attack you inside of Dragonia. If they try, theywillface our wrath.”

“I don’t think the giant is here to attack; they want their queen back. It’s all they’ve ever wanted and why they fought for the Lord when we went to war against him. Do you wish to take your children home before joining us outside?”

“We call them wyrmlings, and no, they can remain here if you allow it.”

When Belindo turned her head toward Lexi, the tiny bundle of joy rubbed Lexi’s nose with hers. Lexi giggled as they exchanged this small sign of affection before the dragon spread her wings and hopped down.

She watched as Belindo hopped over to join her siblings before shifting her attention to Alina. “Of course they can stay. Are you going to stay with them?”

“I will go with my queen.”

Lexi turned to Brokk. “Are you ready to get this over with?”

“I’ll be right by your side.”

CHAPTERFOUR

Cole emergedfrom the portal and into an outer realm with a dark red sun and black clouds floating across a purple sky. The shadows released him from their dark embrace and slithered across the ground.

Some swirled up to surround him as he moved, but they didn’t cloak him from view again. Their power coursed through his veins, thrummed across his skin, and swelled within his muscles.

He couldn’t feel all the shadows inallthe realms—there were far too many realms for that. And they didn’t all communicate with him, but the shadows he’d assigned to watch over Lexi when he left, continued to do so. They would alert him if she was in jeopardy.

He was aware a giant had entered Dragonia, but between the shadows and the dragons, she would remain safe. The shadows didn’t think the giant was there to harm her, and neither did he. The man was there for his queen; he wouldn’t cause any problems. If he did, the shadows would make him pay.

There was a bigger threat brewing here. The shadows pulsed with excitement as Cole stalked toward the large building only two hundred feet away.

The shadows would get the chance to kill again, and theylovedit. But then, so did Cole. That wasn’t always the case, but he wouldn’t feel any remorse over what he would unleash here.

He’d been to this establishment before. Aurora was a place of hedonism and decadence. One where he’d spent countless hours and days.

It had also become a place for traitors to gather.

Women and men danced on the large, wooden structure’s different balconies and outcroppings. Some danced on the roof, stripping off what little clothes they wore and tossing them at those who entered.

A steady flow of immortals flowed into the building. Most of them played with themselves as they moved, while others openly fucked each other.

This place was one of the many dark fae pleasure houses he’d visited. Many of the dancers had been shadow kissed by the dark fae; they now craved sex all the time and would do anything to get it.

The shadow kissed didn’t care who they screwed as long as they screwed someone. But then, the same could be said for the dark fae who created them… or at least most of the dark fae.

He and a few rare other dark fae had fallen in love, found the ones they would marry, and never stray from; most fae didn’t. They were quite content with that, as he once was but would never be again.

Cole recognized one of them as a woman he’d shadow kissed. She wore nothing more than stars on her nipples and a see-through thong. When she spotted him, she waved before turning and vanishing from the balcony where she danced.

The shadow kissed the dark fae left in their wake often went on to screw countless others, but no matter how many other lovers they had, they still favored the one who made them. Cole couldn’t remember the woman’s name, but she stood at the open doors when he reached them.

“You’re back!” she exclaimed as she threw herself into his arms.

The shadows around him hissed in revulsion, and a chill slid over his skin as he pushed the woman away. The look he gave her caused the woman to recoil, and her smile vanished as she edged away from him.

“Aren’t you here for me?” she whimpered.

“Not unless you want to die,” the shadows and Cole said.
