Breathing heavily, she rested her arms against the upper windowpane and rested herforehead on them as she tried to ignore thewrongnessof herskin. The cool air blowing against her offered only a little relieffrom the frustration pulsing through her.
She closed hereyes and tried to breathe normally, but her chest remainedconstricted and her heart labored. She couldn’t take much more ofthis.

Done with hishunt, Saber stalked through the woods toward the house. He’dglutted himself on blood, but it didn’t calm him tonight, unlikethe other times he’d done so.
Neither had thecold shower he’d taken before going to hunt. While showering, he’dthrown his clothes into the washer with a lot of detergent andstain remover shit. To his surprise, most of the blood cameout.
He would have farpreferred to throw them out, but with nothing else to replace them,he didn’t have an option. At least they were clean, even if theywere stained and more threadbare than when he first arrived. Still,he left the shirt behind when he went hunting.
A ravenous hungerclawed at him with every beat of his heart, but it had nothing todo with blood andeverythingto do with the woman whosescent had engrained itself on him. He couldn’t escape her; shefollowed him everywhere.
Maybe it would bebest if Saber had the other Alliance members stay and watch overher while he left. He had the sword he’d come for; he no longerneeded to be here, and it would be best for her if he wentaway.
She was maddening, but she didn’t deserve to be used and discarded by a monster likehim. And he dreamed of using her ineveryway possible.
However, the ideaof leaving her with anyone other than himself caused the demoninside him to prickle. His fangs, which he’d managed to retractafter his last feed, descended again.
If anyone tried toseparate him from her, he’d kill them, yet here he wascontemplating walking away from her. She’d turned him into achaotic mess. His nails dug into his palms until blood flowed anddripped onto the ground.
He tried to relax, but no matter how much he tried to will himself calm again, itdidn’t work. He should return to the woods, feast again, or beatthe shit out of something until he was more in control, but a shiftin the air carried her scent and froze him in place.
The crisp, freshness of her aroma immediately flooded his shaft with blood.Turning his head, he scented the air as he sought the source ofthat fantastic aroma. He didn’t see her, but she was out there…somewhere.
His angle onlygave him a glimpse of the barn. Switching direction, Saber slippedthrough the trees until he got a better view of her apartment. Oncehe did, he stopped dead in his tracks, his heart plunged into hisstomach, and he stopped breathing to take her in.
CHAPTER 68
Caro stood withher head down and arms up in a position that showed offeveryinch of her exquisite, toned frame. Years of workingat the forge, hammering, and molding metal into masterpieces hadalso turned her body into one.
Her apple-sizedbreasts were pert and beautiful as they rose and fell with each ofher labored breaths. His hands itched to caress them beforelowering his mouth to one of those erect nipples.
He could almostfeel the hardened bud against his tongue while he teased andtasted. Almost hear her exquisite moans while he exploredeveryinch of her before dropping to his knees to feastbetween her thighs.
She would tasteand feel as wonderful as she looked; he didn’t doubt it.
As he stood there, drinking her in, the amazing aroma she emitted drifted to him, andhis mouth went dry as tension hummed along his flesh. Her desiresaturating the air was like a homing beacon, luring him closer, buthe remained where he was.
He could ease herneed and make her scream in ecstasy, but he couldn’t stop lookingat her long enough to move. Besides, she rejected him the last timehe got too close; she could do so again, and he wasn’t sure howhe’d handle it if she did.
He hadn’t feltthis unstable since he believed he’d discovered Brie’s body in thefire. He might hurt Caro if he went to her now.
Even as he thoughtit, a voice inside screamed that it wouldneverhappen. Shewas too precious; he couldn’t harm her.
He didn’t know howhe knew this, but he did. She made him unstable, and he couldbecome a monster again because of that, but he would never lay ahand on her in anger or against her will.
She won’treject you now,an inner voice whispered, and he believed itwas right.
Part of the reasonshe rejected him before was becauseheturned away from herfirst. He’d never make that mistake again.
If her scent wasany indication, she was lost to her need for sex and helpless tosatisfy it… like him. She would welcome him, and they both neededit.
There would beconsequences after this, but he didn’t care as his feetfinallystarted moving again. His erection made walkingdifficult as he emerged from the woods, but it didn’t deterhim.
He would have hertonight.
He moved acrossthe lawn separating the barn from the main house and toward theback stairs leading to her apartment. When he arrived at thesliding glass doors, he stopped to gaze inside.
